SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN 1884 the Grolier Club has published or sponsored almost 500 books and exhibition catalogues - some of them now the standard references in their fields - on such subjects as photography, William Blake, Mayan writing, Albrecht Dürer's alphabet book, and the well-known "Grolier Hundred" selections in literature, science, and medicine. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COLLECTION Highlights of the Collection. Opening in September 2020, Further Impressions, an exhibition highlighting our best acquisitions from 2005 to 2020 will be on display in our ground floor exhibition hall. A selection of over 250 highlights from the Grolier Club Library can be found in our catalogue DIGITIZED COLLECTIONS The Grolier Club Library began digitizing selected portions of its collection in 2014 with the generous support of the Pine Tree Foundation. The inaugural project was the digitization of its own journal, the Grolier Club Gazette (preceded by the Transactions), which made over 125 years of Grolier Club history electronically accessible for the first time.PUBLIC EVENTS

Named for Jean Grolier (1489/90-1565), the Renaissance collector renowned for sharing his library with friends, the Club’s objective is to promote “the study, collecting, and appreciation of books and works on paper.” Through the concerted efforts of an international network of over eight hundred men and women—book and print collectors, antiquarian book dealers, librarians, designers, fine printers, binders, and other artisans—the Grolier Club pursues this mission through its library, its public exhibitions and lectures, and its long and distinguished series of publications.
