The Walnut Valley Crafts Fair runs each year in conjunction with the Walnut Valley Festival. The primary focus of this 5-day festival is acoustic music. However, along with the exhibition of hand-made instruments, the Festival provides a chance for the display and sale of quality craftwork including fine jewelry, painting, pottery, leatherwork, carving, clothing, photography, cabin crafts and LAND RUSH PREREGISTRATION PreRegistration: July 1 - 9, 2021! January 14, 2021 Winfield, Kansas—Officials at Walnut Valley Association (WVA) have announced that registration for the 49 th Walnut Valley Festival acoustic instrument championships officially open on January 14, 2021. Contest registration is the first significant event to take place since the festival was postponed, and signals the organization’s intent to hold the event live in Winfield

ONSITE CAMPING

Onsite Camping. 2021 camping fees are $15 per night for basic camping, $27 per night for camping with electricity. Camping fees will be paid at the entry gate by cash, check or credit card. Full camping fees must be paid for ALL nights on grounds, sold from day entering to last day of festival. More than 1000 electric hookups available in the CONTEST REGISTRATION GREAT NEWS FOR THE 2021 CHAMPIONSHIPS! Walnut Valley Festival will increase the number of competitors from 40 to 55 for the year 2021 in all eight championships presented by the festival. Registration for NEW REGISTRATIONS for the 2021 competitions will open at 9:00am Thursday, January 14, 2021 via on-line, phone call or the U.S. Postal

2021 CONTEST RULES

Contests are open to anyone except those who are performing as a billed or paid entertainer or workshop leader at the 2020 National Flat Pick Guitar Championships and those who have been the First Place winner within the past five years — specifically the years 2015 through 2019. However, previous winners may enter and win contests which they have not won within the last five years.

FAIRGROUNDS MAP

If you search for our festival with your GPS, you may get directed to our year-round office on Main Street in beautiful downtown Winfield. The festival itself is about 3/4ths of a mile west of downtown. Take 9th Avenue (US 160) west from downtown Winfield. The main entry gate is the western of the two entrances. The eastern entrance is for re-entry only (after you’ve gotten wristbands). 2021 SPRING MANDOLIN WORKSHOPS Andy Hatfield - Swing Mandolin. Sunday, March 21, 2021 - 1pm to 3pm CDT. “In this workshop, you’ll continue learning swing tunes and technique. We will learn how to play a couple of swing tunes you can learn in a weekend. Other topics include common chord progressions, using 3-note chords, and improvising based on the chord progression.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRE-LINEUP! Pre-Lineup: Saturday, August 28, Starting at 7am. Your Row Assignment form should be prominently displayed in the windshield of your vehicle when you arrive. Still the third week-end in September, in Winfield, Kansas, at the Winfield Fairgrounds, the Walnut Valley Festival has long prided itself on being educational as well as enjoyable, but most of all, the Festival is a homecoming. And a homecoming not just because of the music and how folks act, but a coming home to a place in the soul and the heart with a spirit of celebration.
