VAL DAYS TO KICK OFF SUMMER OF CELEBRATIONS In previous years, the Knights of Columbus have hosted the wine and beer tastings in a large tent located across from Harry’s Tavern. Homes said this year they were hoping to have enough money raised to build a large gazebo in the park in time for Val Days, but that wasunable to happen.
COUNTY ACCEPTS ROADS PLAN FOR 2021-2026 In 2020, the county board transferred $1,520,176.58 from the Inheritance Fund to the highway department specifically for this project. Prior to this, County Road 11 had been a project included in the One and Six-Year plan for a few years, former Highway Superintendent Steve Mika said back in September 2020, because of safety concerns and the large amount of truck traffic. NELSON PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE Nelson, who lives in Valparaiso, was arrested on Feb. 8 and was released the same day after posting 10% of the $250,000 bail. Nelson was a speech and drama teacher with the district for a number of years, but was removed from the classroom “several weeks” prior SUPERVISORS APPROVE AMENDMENTS TO ZONING COUNTY SOLAR WAHOO – The Saunders County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing about new Saunders County zoning regulations in regards to solar energy in the county on Feb. 23.
