HAVE A LOOK AROUND ST ANNES TOWN CENTRE, WITH VISIT ST ANNES Have a look around the seaside high streets of St Annes Town Centre, with Visit St Annes. It’s quite a compact shopping area, centred around the main road of St Annes Road West. The high street is at right angles to the A584 Clifton Drive, the main through-road between Blackpool and Lytham. Main intersection of the high street and CliftonDrive.

LYTHAM ST ANNES SPITFIRE MEMORIAL On the seafront against Fairhaven Lake you’ll see the Spitfire Memorial, flying high in the sky. The nine-metre plane is a full-size, exact replica Spitfire. It sits on a plinth and pole-like support next to the Lake. The centrepiece of a lakeside RAF Fighter and Bomber Command memorial. Its official title is the “ Lytham St Annes RAF THE NEW-LOOK GRANNY'S BAY • TAKE A LOOK WITH VISIT ST ANNES August 22, 2020. It’s official name is Stanner Bank. But Granny’s Bay is the name that this popular bit of seafront and beach usually goes by. It’s the cove-like area, near to the White Church at Fairhaven. In summer 2020 it recently reopened, after a multi-million pound rebuild of the sea wall.FAIRHAVEN LAKE

It’s the same rule you’ll find at most UK amenity beaches. The dog exclusion zone on the amenity beach at St Annes starts on Good Friday until 30 September each year. The amenity beach is located between the slipway for St Annes Lifeboat Station LOST VILLAGE OF KILGRIMOL • EXPLORE THE PAST WITH VISIT ST Lost Village of Kilgrimol. The Lost Village of Kilgrimol might be fact, it might be fiction. It’s a local story of another lost village, possibly to the rising sea. This one is said to have been off the coast of St Annes. We sent our Fylde contributor Sue Massey to start finding out what she could about the lost village of Kilgrimol. ST ANNES SEAFRONT AND BEACH, GARDENS & SEASIDE FUN! At St Annes seafront and beach there are miles of open public land to explore. It’s an enormous natural beach. Walk the beautifully tended promenade gardens, complete with waterfalls and ducks. Enjoy traditional seaside attractions with fun for all the family. We took a walk from the beach huts along the promenade to the Pier, in July 2020–.

The Early History of St Annes. From the early 1600’s, St Annes was the western edge of the estate owned by the Clifton family. In the late 18th and 19th centuries, the Cliftons had been developing their hamlet of Lytham to take advantage of the increased popularity of sea-bathing. More about the history of Lytham here. Find it at 5 St Georges Road, St Annes, FY8 2AE MEXICO LIFEBOAT DISASTER This is the memorial of a lifeboatman looking out to sea, you can find it on the promenade at St Annes, not far from the Pier. Memorial to the Mexico Lifeboat Disaster at St Annes Monument to the Mexico Lifeboat Disaster at St Annes. Other memorials can be found in the lifeboat house at Lytham St Annes and at St Cuthbert’s Churchyard,Lytham.

Way back in 1899, a new church was first suggested at a Lytham Congregational Church meeting.Those present thought it should be in Fairhaven on the estuary of the Ribble, on land leased by the Clifton family of Lytham Hall. He explains: “Residents of Lytham and St Annes raised £6,500 to buy the original Spitfire plane in 1941. LOST VILLAGE OF KILGRIMOL • EXPLORE THE PAST WITH VISIT ST The Lost Village of Kilgrimol might be fact, it might be fiction. It’s a local story of another lost village, possibly to the rising sea. This one is said to have been off the coast of St Annes. WHEN AND WHERE YOU CAN TAKE DOGS ON ST ANNES BEACH You can take your dog off its lead on the beach outside this relatively small area. Dog walkers can still enjoy a vast amount of beach stretching towards Squires Gate one way and Lytham Quays in theother direction.

History of the White Church. Way back in 1899, a new church was first suggested at a Lytham Congregational Church meeting.Those present thought it should be in Fairhaven on the estuary of the Ribble, on land leased by the Clifton family of Lytham Hall. MEXICO LIFEBOAT DISASTER This is the memorial of a lifeboatman looking out to sea, you can find it on the promenade at St Annes, not far from the Pier.
