Hiroshima Prefecture lies in the southwest of Japan's main island, Honshu. The oldest Japanese garden in Hiroshima City is Shukkeien. Constructed in the Edo period, the garden draws thousands of visitors, especially in spring and autumn. There are other wonderful parks and gardens in Hiroshima Prefecture. The “Rekishi-no-mieru-oka-koen” park on the island of Osaki Shimojima has one of the best views of the Seto InlandSea.
HOT SPRINGS
When you would like to try the hot springs in Hiroshima, there are some spas –for example, Miharashi Hot Spring, Miyahama Hot Spring and so on- are nearby the sea or in islands. In Miyajima Island too, some Ryokan hotels supply hot springs. Also in the mountainous regions, there are some spas too –for example, Yuki Hot Spring in the countryside of north side. ABOUT ITSUKUSHIMA SHRINE Itsukushima Shrine is the only shrine and O-Torii gate in Japan built where the tide swells beneath it and retreats into the distance. The Main Shrine connected by beautiful corridors to the Marodo Shrine, Tenjin Shrine and the Noh theatre stage are all in perfect balance with the nature surrounding it. STATUE OF MOTHER AND CHILD IN THE STORM Statue of Mother and Child in the Storm. This is the original work of Hongo Shin, a sculptor famous for a number of monuments including "Wadatsumi's Statue". All Hongo's works are highly expressive of human love. This statue was funded by the Hiroshima City Ladies Union in August 1960. There are two World Heritage Sites in Hiroshima. One is Itsukushima Shrine and the other is the A-Bomb Dome of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. Itsukushima Shrine is one of the most significant shrines in Japan, and the only shrine in the world which has a torii-gate and shrine building in the middle of the sea. Its view is considered one of the best three views in Japan. The A-Bomb Dome is the most symbolic building in Hiroshima City, where the first atomic bomb was dropped, and has been representing people's prayers for lasting peace. These two World Heritage Sites in Hiroshima are both very unique, therefore many people from all over the world visit Hiroshima to see them. Please visit Hiroshima to see these world heritage sites.
