Founded in 1994, the not-for-profit organization CENTER supports socially and environmentally engaged lens-based projects through education, public platforms, funding, and partnerships. Through our advancement of artists and their work, CENTER serves to deepen public understandings of lens-based media’s complex history CENTER PROJECT DEVELOPMENT The Project Development Grant provides financial support to fine art, documentary, or photojournalistic works in progress. Assisting a photographer to help complete their project, the grant provides platforms for professional development in the work’s final stages. CENTER CHOICE AWARDS The CENTER Awards recognize outstanding images in three categories: Personal, Social, and Environmental. CENTER DEBORAH ESPINOSA’S WORK “LIVING WITH CONVICTION Living with Conviction leverages legal empowerment strategies, including multimedia storytelling and legal literacy trainings, to advocate for an end to onerous court-imposed debt. “An unjust law itself is a species of violence. Arrest for its beach is more so.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi Living with Conviction: Sentenced to Debt for Life in Washington State leverages multimedia CENTER SANTA FE PRIZE The Santa Fe Fellowship, formerly the Santa Fe Prize, honors and supports a gifted and committed mid-career photographer. Awarded by invitation only, the Santa Fe Fellowship includes an honorarium, travel, accommodations, and presentation of one’s work at the Review Santa Fe Photo Festival. CENTER PHOTOSUMMER OVERVIEW PhotoSummer is a collaborative initiative that represents and actively promotes historical and contemporary photography throughout New Mexico. Taking the rich legacy of photography in New Mexico as a point of departure, the exhibitions and public programs around PhotoSummer represent the continued energy and support of the photographic arts in the region. Founded and initiated by CENTER EXCELLENCE IN MULTIMEDIA AWARD The Excellence in Multimedia Storytelling Award recognizes outstanding storytellers using lens-based media to create narrative-driven projects.
