The stratosphere contains an ozone layer that shields the surface of Earth from much of the ultraviolet radiation coming form the sun. The depletion of the ozone layer is subject of much concern. The ultraviolet band is broken into three types referred to as UVA (with wavelengths of 320 to 400 nm), UVB (280 to 320 nm), and UVC (200 to 280 nm). The most harmful of these three, UVC radiation, is CONDUCTIVITY PROBE TROUBLESHOOTING AND FAQS Conductivity Probe (CON-BTA)Specifications and User Guide. ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE From soil studies to wind energy, environmental science teaches students how to interact with the natural world. Our easy-to-use sensors support educators as they help their students understand key concepts using data-collection technology. Our lab books provide educators with ready-to-go investigations to help students establish a deep understanding of key scientific concepts.ACCELERATED MOTION
How can we use mathematics to express the way an object moves when it is speeding up? The velocity of the object is constantly changing, rather than a steady value. In this exercise, you will apply curve fits to graphs of position vs. time and velocity vs. time for a fan cart. You will use the curve fits to determine the parameters of themotion.
TERMINAL VELOCITY
In this experiment, you will examine the motion of a falling object where air drag is significant. Using the Vernier Video Analysis app, you will analyze a video of falling coffee filters. Since these coffee filters have little mass and a relatively large surface area, the effect of air drag is particularly noticeable. You will investigate features of the position vs. time and velocity vsPROJECTILE MOTION
In this experiment, you will examine the behavior of a projectile—an object moving in space due to some initial launching force. Such an object can undergo motion in two dimensions simultaneously. Using the Vernier Video Analysis app, you will compare features of the position vs. time and velocity vs. time graphs with those of one-dimensionalmotion.
1-DIMENSIONAL INELASTIC COLLISIONS In this activity, you will analyze a series of videos in which a cart in motion collides with another cart and afterward they are physicallyconnected.
KINETIC FRICTION
Scientists have long recognized that the coefficient of friction is different when two objects are moving relative to each other or at rest. Imagine trying to slide a large refrigerator across a kitchen floor. It takes more force to get it moving than to keep it moving—this is because the coefficient of static (not moving) friction is greater than the coefficient of kinetic (sliding)friction.
REFINING THE AIR DRAG MODEL When evaluating the forces acting on, and motion of, an object moving through the air, we often simplify the situation by excluding air drag. In many cases, it is appropriate to do so—the object may be shaped so that the drag force is negligible. But, when the object in question is large or moving fast, it is harder to justify excludingair drag.

Specifications. Range: -20°C – 115°C. Maximum temperature that the sensor can tolerate without damage: 150°C. Resolution: 0.07°C. Accuracy: ± 0.5°C. Response Time: 4s (to 90% of full reading in water) Requirements. Choose a platform below to see its compatibilityrequirements.
MICROPHONE - VERNIER Use the Microphone to display and study the waveforms of sounds from voices and musical instruments. It also works well for speed of soundexperiments.
GO DIRECT® COLORIMETER Use this sensor to explore absorbance and percent transmittance in a variety of experiments including Beer’s law (absorbance vs. concentration) and kinetic studies (concentration vs. time).Students select between four wavelengths (430 nm, 470 nm, 565 nm, 635 nm) to set up their experiment. Go Direct Colorimeter features one-step calibration for all four wavelengths.SENSORDAQ - VERNIER
The SensorDAQ interface is perfect for teaching NI LabVIEW or for building sensor-control student projects using NI LabVIEW software. Included are four channels for a quick and easy way to add Vernier sensors without external wiring or signal conditioning. There is a screw terminal for digital I/O, analog output, counter, +5 Volt line, and 2
GO DIRECT® HAND DYNAMOMETER Go Direct Hand Dynamometer can be used to measure grip and pinch strength and to perform muscle fatigue studies. This sensor directly connects via Bluetooth ® wireless technology or USB to student devices. Students can correlate muscle strength and fatigue when they pair Go Direct Hand Dynamometer and Go Direct ® EKG Sensor.LOGGER PRO® 3 DEMO
The demo version of Logger Pro is fully functioning. The demo is version 3.16.2 and good for 30 days. About Logger Pro. Logger Pro is our flagship data-collection and analysis application for Windows and Mac computers. Learn more about Logger Pro software. FACTORS AFFECTING ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE Metals are generally excellent conductors of heat and electricity. Because of this, we tend to neglect any resistance in wires when we examine the behavior of ordinary loads (bulbs, resistors, motors, etc.) in electrical circuits. But metals are not perfect conductors, otherwise the wires in our toasters would not get hot. In this experiment, you will examine the factors that affect the ANALYSIS OF RUNNING WITH RESISTANCE In this activity, you will analyze the horizontal motion of a person running as drag is increased. Using the Vernier Video Analysis app, you will compare features of the position vs. time and velocity vs. time graphs as drag is increased on the runner.
