TRUELOVE SEEDS
Truelove Seeds is a farm-based seed company offering culturally important and open pollinated vegetable, herb, and flower seeds. Our seeds are grown by more than 20 small-scale urban and rural farmers committed to community food sovereignty, cultural preservation, and sustainable agriculture. BESOBELA (ETHIOPIAN BASIL) Besobela is an Ethiopian holy basil with a delicate and distinct flavor that is used as in Kibe (spiced butter), Berbere (spice mixture), Shiro (stew) and many other essential dishes as a rub or marinade. This fragrant, purple-flowered basil grows wild and cultivated in Ethiopia where it is harvested by hand, sun-dried, and pulverized for cooking. NEW HANOVER GROUND CHERRY This round, yellow ground cherry in a papery husk is sweet with a backbeat of yellow tomato. According to William Woys Weaver, from whom we received our seeds, this heirloom variety was preserved by Katie Hoffman Slonaker (1903–1983) on her farm in New Hanover,Pennsylvania. Jo

Loaded with long, white, velvety, and spineless fruits, this is a gorgeous and delicious variety eaten fresh off the plant, cooked, or canned. It was made commercially available in THOMPSON'S PROLIFIC WHITE DENT CORN Tall, productive stalks yield two heavy, 8-inch, cream-colored ears - hence the name 'prolific'!
