WHAT IS THE FICTION DESK? What is The Fiction Desk? The Fiction Desk is an independent publishing house based in the UK. We exist to encourage and promote new short stories, primarily through our series of new writing anthologies. SHORT STORY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FROM THE FICTION DESK It's fine to send us more than one story. In fact, we prefer to see two or three. Please don't send more than three, though, and please send each story through the form separately, and not together in one document. SIX RULES FOR MANUSCRIPT FORMATTING. The Basic Rules. 1. Use 12-point Times New Roman. Everybody is used to seeing Times New Roman on their screen (or on paper), and every computer has it. It’s the most invisible font there is.
