SANITY'S REQUIEM
MADNESS TAKES ITS TOLL. PLEASE HAVE EXACT CHANGE. April 25th, 2031, 07:00 am AS OF 25 APRIL, 2011.... As much as I hate to do this, the time has come. After over 7 years on LiveJournal, my blog is now going Friends Only. Those of you who have been with me for any length of time may remember that I considered this action when I found myself "stalked" by someone interested in my jousting connexions. At the time, I opted to lock any entries that dealt with the knights in a personal capacity, and only mentioned them publicly when it had something to do with an event or other promotion. More recently, I have found myself attacked on a personal level. Initially, I determined that I would lock most of my entries "for awhile"... but as time went on, I realised I had no way of determining when I could stop. Sadly, I can see no other choice. ENTRIES THAT WILL REMAIN PUBLIC: Scripture posts, devotional posts, joust promotions, fanfiction, sale posts, icon giveaways. ENTRIES THAT WILL BE LOCKED: Pretty much anything personal, especially having to do with my friends and family. FRIENDING POLICY: Fairly lax, as ever. Just comment to be added. So long as we have something in common _(be it friends, a community, or interests)_, I'll most likely add you back. One of the reasons I've put off doing this is because I feel it defeats the purpose of online blogging. LJ already seems to be in a slow decline, and I hate taking an action that will only further the isolation of those still posting. Let's keep talking! * Current Location: The House: Bedroom * State of Being: tired* 8

November 21st, 2019, 08:07 am UPWORDS - MAX LUCADO: 20 NOVEMBER 2019 OUR PRAYERS ARE NOT GRADED Listen to Today's Devotion Jesus downplayed the importance of words in prayers. We tend to do the opposite. The more words the better! We emphasize the appropriate prayer language, the latest prayer trend, the holiest prayer terminology. Against all this emphasis on syllables and rituals, Jesus says in Matthew 6:7, “Don’t ramble like heathenswho talk a lot.”
There’s no panel of angelic judges with numbered cards. “Wow, Lucado, that prayer was a ten. God will certainly hear you!” or… “Oh, Lucado, you scored a two this morning. Go home andpractice.”
Prayers aren’t graded according to style. If prayer depends on how I pray, I’m sunk. But if the power of prayer depends on the One who hears the prayer, then I have hope. Read more _Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer_*

November 20th, 2019, 07:20 am UPWORDS - MAX LUCADO: 19 NOVEMBER 2019 A CLOSET CHAT WITH GOD Listen to Today's Devotion Religious leaders loved to make theater out of their prayers. The show nauseated Jesus. In Matthew 6:6 He said, “When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who cannot be seen. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and He will rewardyou.”
The words surely stunned Jesus’ audience. The people were simple farmers and stonemasons. They couldn’t enter the temple. But they could enter their closets. The point? He’s low on fancy, high on accessibility. You need not woo him with location or wow him with eloquence. It’s the power of a _simple_ prayer. Every day for four weeks, pray four minutes…a simple prayer. Then, get ready to connect with God like never before. Read more _Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer_ * State of Being: thankful*

November 19th, 2019, 07:23 am DAILY DEVOTIONS FROM LUTHERAN HOUR MINISTRIES: 19 NOVEMBER 2019"HARD WORDS"
_Malachi 3:13-18 - "Your words have been hard against me, says the LORD. But you say, 'How have we spoken against You?' You have said, 'It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping His charge or of walking as in mourning before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test, and they escape.'" Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed His Name. "They shall be Mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up My treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him."_ It may sound odd, but I can almost hear the sound of hurt feelings in the first part of the reading for today. "Your words have been hard against Me, says the Lord." It sounds like ... like a hurt parent, or a friend, or a spouse. It does _not_ sound like the King of the universe, the Maker of all things, the One who is so far above us. Why would He even notice our whining, let alone care? And yet He does. "Your words have been hard against Me," He says. What words? Words that are problematic in two ways. First of all, they show a painful lack of faith in God's justice. "Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test, and they escape." I have to admit that when I look around the world, I can see why people say this. There are any number of rich, powerful people who seem to get away with everything, up to and including murder. But that isn't me—and I'm guessing it isn't you, either. We walk a harder road. And when we see that undeserving others seem to have it easier, well, we complain, don't we? Even against God. But there is a second, deeper problem with this complaint. "What is the profit of our keeping His charge?" the people ask. Or to put it in more familiar words, "What's in it for me? Why should I trouble to obey God if I'm getting nothing out of it? After all, it's not as if I loved Him and would do it for free!" Ouch! Now _that's_ hurtful. Hurtful to the Lord, and I'm guessing, to you as well. Because everything has changed for those who belong to Jesus. We have come to know Him as the One who died and rose for us—the One "who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20b). With a Savior like that, our life with God can never be a matter of spiritual accounting anymore—reckoning up losses and gains to figure out if serving God is worth it. Now it's a matter of love—like the love between a father and son. "We love because He first loved us," says John (1 John 4:19). It's only the love of Jesus that can take a selfish, complaining human heart and change it into one that truly loves God for Himself. Now there is real love on both sides of the relationship—God's great love for us and our own miniature reflection of that love back to Him. The Holy Spirit has planted Jesus' own love for the Father in our hearts as well. What a wonderful gift! THE PRAYER: Dear Father, I love You, and want to love You more. Pleasehelp me. Amen.

November 18th, 2019, 07:35 am DAILY DEVO - JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES: 18 NOVEMBER 2019 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?— Matthew 6:26
Are You Not Worth Much More Than They? Adapted from the resource _New Day, New You Devotional_ - by Joyce Meyer
It might do all of us good to spend some time watching birds. That's what our Lord told us to do. If not every day, then at least every now and then we need to take the time to observe and remind ourselves how well our feathered friends are cared for. They literally do not know where their next meal is coming from, yet I have personally never seen a bird sitting on a tree branch having a nervous breakdown due toworry.
The Master's point here is really very simple: "Are you not worth more than a bird?" Even though you may be wrestling with a poor self-image, surely you can believe that you are more valuable than a bird, and look how well your heavenly Father takes care of them. PRAYER STARTER: Father, thank You for reminding me that when life is overwhelming or I’m tempted to worry, I have tremendous value in Your eyes, and You’ll never let me down. Help me to be mindful that You will always love me, provide for me, and take care of every need. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. * State of Being: hopeful*

November 17th, 2019, 04:53 am DAILY DEVO - JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES: 17 NOVEMBER 2019 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.— Hebrews 4:16
Receive Mercy
Adapted from the resource _My Time with God Devotional_ - by Joyce Meyer
God is full of mercy and loving-kindness! He is extending His mercy to you right now, but you must believe it and receive it in order for it to benefit you. When we sin, we don’t need to punish ourselves, because Jesus already took our punishment and now offers us His mercy.Amazing!
Mercy would not be mercy if it could be deserved, because it is said to be kindness that exceeds what could be expected. If you are suffering from guilt, shame, and condemnation, God is reaching out to you now and offering you mercy. Don’t turn away because you know you don’t deserve it. Receive it and let it make you fall more in love with Jesus than ever before. We need mercy every day, and God has provided it because His Word says that His mercy is new every day and His faithfulness is great and abundant (see Lamentations 3:23 ). Our sin will never exceed God’s mercy because where sin abounds, grace abounds much more (see Romans 5:20 ). PRAYER STARTER: Father, thank You very much for Your amazing mercy. Teach me how to receive not only mercy but also all of Your gracious benefits. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. * State of Being: grateful*

November 16th, 2019, 04:59 am UPWORDS - MAX LUCADO: 15 NOVEMBER 2019 PRAYER CAN BE SIMPLE, YET POWERFUL Listen to Today's Devotion Prayer really is simple. Resist the urge to complicate it. Don’t take pride in well-crafted prayers. Don’t apologize for incoherent prayers. No games. No cover-ups. Just be honest. Honest toGod.
Climb into His lap, tell Him everything that is on your heart. Or, tell Him nothing at all. Just lift your heart to heaven and declare “Father, Daddy.” Stress, fear, guilt, grief…demands on all sides. At times, all we can summon, is a plaintive, “Oh Father.” If so, that’s enough. Your Heavenly Father will wrap you in Hisarms.
Here’s my challenge for you! Every day for four weeks, pray four minutes. Then get ready to connect with God like never before. Read more _Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer_ * State of Being: hopeful*

November 15th, 2019, 07:29 am UPWORDS - MAX LUCADO: 14 NOVEMBER 2019 BE LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN Listen to Today's Devotion We prayer wimps fear “mis-praying.” What’s the expected etiquette and dress code of prayer? What if we kneel instead of stand? Jesus’ answer? In Matthew 18:3, He says, “Become as little children.” Carefree. Joy filled. Playful. Trusting. Curious. Trustmore—strut less.
God prefers this greeting: “God, you are my Daddy, and I am your child!” It’s hard to show off and call God “Daddy” at the same time. Impossible, in fact. Remember, prayer doesn’t depend on how you pray. The power of prayer depends on the One who hearsthe prayer!
Here’s my prayer challenge for you! Every day for four weeks, pray four minutes. And get ready to connect with God like never before! Read more _Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer_ * State of Being: hopeful*
