CARDINAL WILFRID NAPIER IS 80! Cardinal Napier celebrated his 80 th birthday on 8 March 2021 in Durban.. By Dawn Haynes – This was very different from his 75 th birthday which was a day-long celebration with hundreds of people joining in the song and dance party/concert at Holy Family College!. This time he had a quiet tea with the staff of the Durban Chancery, sitting outside and keeping safe distances.MARY MAGDALENE
We find Mary Magdalene’s story in all four gospels, where she’s mentioned by name 14 times. Luke 8:1-2 – “After this, Jesus travelled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out” WHY IS ARCHANGEL MICHAEL A SAINT? By Father Kenneth Doyle. Question: I am hoping that you can explain why St Michael the Archangel is regarded as a saint. I have always been under the impression that a saint is a deceased believer who is recognised by the Catholic Church after the process of canonisation. RURAL SCHOOLS FACE THE TOUGHEST MUST CATHOLICS HAVE A FUNERAL MASS? I am delighted that this is a topic in this news paper, as i have a complaint on the priest in the Vryburg North west province, who has a problem to bury certain members of his congrigation if they have not paid their monthly dews, even though when the person was still alive, and could go to church. THE REALITY OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN SOUTH AFRICA Externally, across borders, victims are targeted from countries with regions bedevilled by their own socio-economic and political problems. In Africa such countries include Nigeria, Malawi, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. WHY WE NEED TO REVISIT THE PAST While I leave to you to buy the book and read the impressive research and presentation, I will say that it is, simply put, a book that asks all South Africans to continue, or begin, a process of re-looking atour history.
