JR: CHRONICLES
Saatchi Gallery is pleased to present JR: Chronicles - the largest solo museum exhibition to date of the internationally recognised French artist JR, featuring some of his most iconic projects from the past fifteen years. RYAN MOSLEY
Ryan Mosley George And The Dragon, 2007 Oil on linen 160 x 180 cmDANIEL RICHTER
Daniel Richter’s Jawohl und Gomorrah possesses an operatic quality. Borrowing themes from both Christianity and German history, Richter constructs his contemporary scene with theatrical flair: his figures are staged in Baroque composition, their outlandish costumes and mask-like faces lend an element of surreal spectacle.MICHAEL RAEDECKER
Michael Raedecker paints his woodland getaway in the night air. Breaking down the composition to the barest colour-field essentials, he sketches in the details with delicate stitch work: thick wool standing in for tree bark, fine silk threads tracing the enmeshed patterns of the distant trees, the shimmering ripples inMAURIZIO ANZERI
Maurizio Anzeri makes his portraits by sewing directly into found vintage photographs. His embroidered patterns garnish the figures like elaborate costumes, but also suggest a psychological aura, as if revealing the person’s thoughts or feelings.PHOEBE UNWIN

BEDWYR WILLIAMS
Bedwyr Williams often draws upon the quirky banalities of his own autobiographic existence to develop his sculptures and performances. His work merges art and life with a comedic twist that is instantaneously sympathetic and relational. WHAT'S ON - SAATCHI GALLERY What's on at Contemporary art gallery in London. 04 June - 03 October 2021. Saatchi Gallery presents JR: Chronicles - the largest solo museum exhibition to date in London of the internationally recognised French artist JR, featuring some of his most iconic projects from the past fifteen years.. Curated by Sharon Matt Atkins and Drew Sawyer from the Brooklyn Museum, JR: Chronicles traces JR'sDEXTER DALWOOD
Artist at Contemporary art gallery in London. In his painting of Sunny von Bulow, Dexter Dalwood draws poignant comparison between the New York socialite and Pre-Raphaelite representations of Shakespeare’sOphelia.
ABOUDIA - ARTIST - SAATCHI GALLERY Aboudia’s vast paintings convey a strident visual universe made of disparate fragments. In 2011 the young artist from the Ivory Coast was forced to take refuge in an underground studio due to the sudden escalation of violence that followed electoral chaos in the city ofAbidjan.
AMY SILLMAN
Part of the strength of Amy Sillman’s paintings derives from their conscious use of awkwardness as an aspect of form. Unfolding as a series of spontaneous developments, My Pirate captures the procession of thought, mirroring the meander of the subconscious.Through this free-form approach to painting, Sillman develops a painterly dimension where landscapes emerge as emotive terrains.RICHARD WILSON
Richard Wilson’s 20:50 is truly a contemporary masterpiece. The work was the only permanent installation at the Saatchi Gallery and had been continuously shown in each of the gallery’s venues between 1991to 2015.
AMANDA DORAN
The too-muchness of her painting is part of its vision of unselfconscious abundance: excess is the point. In Tattooed Lady the subject’s bulk transforms the space around her: space is flattened, and the complex arabesques of the decorated thighs seem to continue in the carpet and the curtains. BAI YILUO - ARTIST - SAATCHI GALLERY Bai Yiluo Lay Down (Hospital Bed) (and details), 2007 Mixed media (carved tree/hollowed out inside, encased in 2000-3000 black and white standard id card photos, with lacquer coating, laying on an elongated hospital bed designed by the artist)BEDWYR WILLIAMS

Kirstine Roepstorff’s You Are Being Lied To is a delight of cultural protest. Set on a 70s-style photomural backdrop, Roestorff assembles a wonder world of male middle-class-dom. DANIEL RICHTER
Daniel Richter. Gedion, 2002. Oil and Ink on Canvas. 306 x 339cm. Daniel Richter’s work subverts the genre of epic historical painting. Often working from media images, his large-scale paintings reconstitute current events as timeless fables, spinning the anxiety of contemporary zeitgeist into overwhelming tableaux of allegoricalfantasy.
AMY SILLMAN
Amy Sillman. Cliff 2, 2005. Oil on canvas. 183 x 152 cm. Amy Sillman’s work is highly intuitive; her rich, colourful paintings flow with a stream of conscious expression. DEXTER DALWOOD
Dexter Dalwood. Bay of Pigs, 2004. Oil on canvas. 268 x 348cm. In Bay of Pigs, Dalwood recreates the failed 1961 U.S. attempt to overthrow the Cuban government, a haunting tropical image somewhere between vacation brochure and Apocalypse Now. Along the bottom of the canvas, an upside-down version of Picasso’s Déjeuner sur l’herbe standsin

Themes of magical realism stream through Peter Doig’s work, capturing timeless moments of perfect tranquillity, where photo-album memory flits in and out of waking dream. Drawing from his Canadian childhood, and one of the spookier scenes from Friday the 13th, Peter Doig’s canoesCHANTAL JOFFE
305 x 124 cm. The direct and liquid painting style that Chantal Joffe uses has the effect of filling her subjects with personality. The images possess an alarming humour; highly enjoyable and strangely provoking. Chantal Joffe. Untitled, 1995. Oil on gesso on board. Each 29.21 x 21.59 cm. Close.MAURIZIO ANZERI
Maurizio Anzeri makes his portraits by sewing directly into found vintage photographs. His embroidered patterns garnish the figures like elaborate costumes, but also suggest a psychological aura, as if revealing the person’s thoughts or feelings.SHEN SHAOMIN
150 x 70 x 670 cm. Shen Shaomin adopts the role of being anthropologist, scientist, and author of his own fabricated mythologies. Constructed from real animal bones, his sculptures collectively create a bestiary of fictional creatures that are wondrous, frightening, and strange. Reminiscent of Borges’s Book of Imaginary Beings, Shen’sRAFAEL GÓMEZBARROS

Their bodies are made up by the assembling of two human skull casts as if the Santa Marta-born artist were attempting to summon death in life. Rafael Gómezbarros’ work makes visible the overlooked.MATTHIAS WEISCHER
Matthias Weischer. Living Room, 2003. Oil on Canvas. 170 x 190cm. Matthias Weischer’s paintings of interiors expose the architecture of painterly illusion. His rich surfaces contrast geometric fields of hard-edged abstraction with highly rendered decorative details toDAVID BATCHELOR
David Batchelor. David Batchelor makes sculptural installations from objects found in the streets of London, hollowed, stacked and given a new life as empty but brightly coloured light boxes or as unlit composites. Consistent throughout his works is the lurking familiarity of the material leftovers of modern life, from factory scrap todisused

Hannah Starkey. Untitled - September 2008, 2008. C-type print. 122 x 163 cm. Using actors within carefully considered settings, Hannah Starkey’s photographs reconstruct scenes from everyday life with the concentrated stylisation of film. WILL RYMAN
12th January - 9th May 2010 Reviews of the exhibitionTHE BED
Spanning over 8 metres, The Bed is both a monumental sculpture and a stage. Made from papier mâché, Ryman's giant man reclines in a dreamy world, somewhere between Sunday morning lie-in bliss and nervous breakdown, basking in the clutter of notebooks, beer cans and open bags of crisps.PROJECT ROOM

7th January - 7th May 2010 Reviews of the exhibition AMERICAN SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE DIED IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN (BUT NOT INCLUDING THE WOUNDED, NOR THE IRAQIS NOR THE AFGHANS) A tribute to every American soldier killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2004. Comprising of 5,158 drawings - one for every fallen soldier to date. Rendered in graphite pencil, each portrait appears on small coloured cards which correspond to the skin tone of soldiers.PROJECT ROOM

9th October 2008 - 4th January 2009NEWSROOM
"News becomes history as soon as it is reported. What fascinates me in talking about history is the paradoxical movement backwards while obviously propelling ahead with a story into the future. The 15-year time period covered in the show is of a recent past, a past that still unites many New Yorkers in recognition of a city at once familiar andlong gone. "
