Meet the Face of LoboWeek 2021! Mexican gray wolf Alléno was born on May 2, 2010 and joined the Wolf Conservation Center family in October of 2014. The handsome lobo, known for his heterochromatic eyes, is quite the family man - he currently lives with his mate, Rosa, and three daughters in a spacious off-exhibit enclosure at the WCC. ARE THERE WOLVES IN THE NORTHEAST? The following is a list of some of the documented cases of gray wolves in Northeast states since 1990: In September 1993, a gray wolf was shot and killed near Moosehead Lake in Maine. Later DNA analysis confirmed that the animal was a wolf. In 1996, a possible wolf was trapped and killed near Bangor, Maine. Later DNA analysis revealedthat the
HOW MANY WILD WOLVES ARE IN THE UNITED STATES? By early March 2020, the wolf population was likely composed of 12 wolves, but could be as many as 14 wolves. The following is a list of some of the documented cases of gray wolves in Northeast states since 1990: In September 1993, a gray wolf was shot and killed near Moosehead Lake in Maine.
