We are partnering with Clothing the Gap to host a Heal Country walk on Saturday 10th July, along the Barwon River, starting at Balyang Sanctuary. ALCHEMY OF MOUNTAINS AND SEA Alchemy of Mountains and Sea. This is an exhibition by a Chinese contemporary artist Zhang Huajie, who currently resides in Sydney. Since moving to Australia in the beginning of 2020, Zhang has been widely exposed to and deeply touched by the culture and history of the Aboriginal culture and art. The winning entry will be awarded a $10,000 cash prize and the artwork recognised NOMINATIONS EXTENDED FOR 2021 NAIDOC AWARDS Nominations for the 2021 National NAIDOC Awards have been extended until 5pm AEDT, Monday 29 March 2021. The National NAIDOC awards recognise the outstanding contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This year’s ceremony will include the 2020 and 2021 awards due to the cancellation of the 2020 awards last year. Maggie-Jean describes herself as ‘a proud murri’. Her mob is Gubbi Gubbi from the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland though she grew up on Goreng Goreng Country and has been living on Ngunnawal Country for the pastthree years.

ALCHEMY OF MOUNTAINS AND SEA This is an exhibition by a Chinese contemporary artist Zhang Huajie, who currently resides in Sydney. Since moving to Australia in the beginning of 2020, Zhang has been widely exposed to and deeply touched by the culture and history of the Aboriginal culture and art. By making and using the mineral pigments utilised in Australian rock art, Zhang has produced a series of abstract work that pays WATHAURONG ABORIGINAL CO-OPERATIVE ELDERS & RESPECTED The Wathaurong 2021 NAIDOC Elders & Respected Persons lunch will be held on Tuesday 6th July from 12pm - 2pm. This year Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative is hosting Geelong’s annual NAIDOC Ball at the Geelong Events Centre at Rydges Hotel, Geelong. NAIDOC Week is the perfect time to celebrate the achievements of the local Aboriginal community and Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative. WATHAURONG ABORIGINAL CO-OPERATIVE FLAG RAISING Join us on Monday 5th July for the official Flag Raising and Community Day to mark NAIDOC Week in 2021. This event will be held from 11am - 3pm, with the Welcome to Country at 11am. Held at the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative, 62 Morgan Street North Geelong, the day includes a Welcome to Country, flag raising, kids activities, music entertainment, a BBQ, a community market and WATHAURONG ABORIGINAL CO-OPERATIVE MOVIE DAY A fun activity for the whole family to celebrate NAIDOC Week! Join us at Village Cinemas on Thursday 8th July to see the family movie "Spirit - Untamed". Limited tickets available so please make sure you fill out this form to reserve your seats. Your ticket is FREE and includes a small popcorn and a small drink. Please arrive at the theatre at 10:30am to collect your food, the movie will start WATHAURONG ABORIGINAL CO-OPERATIVE "SKATE & PAINT" In partnership with YMCA Anglesea, Skate Australia and Victorian Skateboarding Association, the Wathaurong community are invited to come and learn to skateboard at the Geelong Waterfront! The team will be there from 9am until 2pm, with a BBQ lunch provided. All ages and all abilities are welcome!
