CALIFORNIA ROAD TRIP WITH KIDS California road trip with kids – a 10-day Pacific Coast Highway itinerary. 28th February 2020. I’ve wanted to do a road trip along California’s Pacific Coast Highway – aka Highway 1 – for years. And once my daughter was old enough for it to be a pleasure rather than a punishment (for us), I started planning our route for aCalifornia
ONE DAY IN NORWICH WITH KIDS One day in Norwich with kids. Once England’s second city, there’s so much to discover in Norwich with kids, from its castle and cathedral to the twisty alleyways, quirky cafes and lovely riverside, that I wished we had longer to explore. But even if you have one day in Norwich with kids, the size of the city means you can pack a lot in CALYPSO BOAT TRIP AROUND THE ISLES OF SCILLY press trip*. Although we spent some of our first (rainy) day wandering around St Mary’s, discovering one of the closest beaches and a rather fab cafe (more to come there), I wanted to get a taste of the other smaller islands to plan our remaining time.. Step forward Calypso boat tours, which visit three islands – St Agnes, Tresco and Bryher – within a day. THE BEST PLAYGROUNDS IN LONDON Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Playground, Kensington Gardens. Perhaps London’s best-known play area, you’ll find the Diana Memorial Playground in the park’s north-western corner, with a huge wooden pirate ship as its centrepiece.. But that’s only the start of the different play areas dotted around: you’ll find a sensory trail, play wigwams, sculptures, even a telescope to look out TIPS FOR TRAVELLING SOLO WITH KIDS Travelling solo with kids can feel daunting – especially the first time you set off on a trip together, or face a first flight. But after a string of trips with my daughter, including the Eurostar to Paris and a long-haul flight to Florida as a toddler plus more recent holidays exploring Cambodia and Oman when she was five, I can vouch for the fact it’s definitely possible. EAST ANGLIA FAMILY ROAD TRIP East Anglia family road trip – through history. With its endless fields of green, broken by splashes of bright yellow flowers in bloom, twisting country roads leading to shingle beaches and the sea, travelling through Suffolk can feel like rediscovering England of long ago. And it’s not just the peace of a gentler pace of life. 23 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE VISITING PEPPA PIG WORLD If you arrive early, head straight to Peppa Pig World towards the back of Paultons Park (there are helpful signs, and you’ll quickly spot the ginormous Peppa towering over you). If you arrive late morning or lunchtime, you could explore the rest of Paultons Park and head over to Peppa later when it’s quieter – toddler permitting. 5. FAMILY DAY OUT: FREE ZOOS IN LONDON Family day out: Free zoos in London. 21st January 2014. London zoo is deservedly one of the most famous in the world. But it’s not the only one to be found in the capital. As well as smaller zoos, like the Battersea Park Children’s Zoo , BIAZA (the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums) has a list of free zoos in London.MUMMYTRAVELS

BEST PLACES TO STAY IN DEVON WITH KIDS There’s something incredibly relaxing about even the thought of a family holiday in Devon. Which means when I’m looking for the best places to stay in Devon with kids, my thoughts instantly turn to chilled-out cottages and quirky self-catering rather than the formality of hotels, however luxurious. 11 THINGS TO DO IN THE PEAK DISTRICT WITH KIDS Peak Wildlife Park, near Leek. On the southern edge of the Peak District, this little zoo is perfect for a day out with younger kids – walking through some of the open enclosures, past lemurs and wallabies, is a huge treat. Just steps away is the most famous spot commemorating the fire – known simply as the Monument. At the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill, it was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and finished in 1677. The latest restorations were finished in 2009, with new golf leaf on the flaming orb at thetop.
11 THINGS TO DO IN BRUSSELS WITH KIDS What to do when you’ve got a Eurostar discount burning a hole in your pocket, and itchy feet? I asked – and the consensus was not to go back to Paris but to explore somewhere new, such as Brussels, which I visited twice but a long time ago – and before my daughter was born, so I’d see a new side of Brussels for kids. contains affiliatelinks
BLISTS HILL REVIEW
Blists Hill review – Ironbridge Gorge’s Victorian Town. 15th August 2018. The year is 1900. Queen Victoria has been on the throne for 63 years, the Boer War is raging and candlemakers are still using arsenic to colour their creations green. On the plus side, sweets cost fourpence a quarter.
