Ceramics on Lacquerware Keiji Ito and Tohru Matsuzaki 9 - 18 Oct 2020 Ippodo Gallery Tokyo is holding “Ceramics on the Lacquerware”, a collaborative exhibition featuring Keiji Ito, ceramic artist, and Tohru Matsuzaki, wooden lacquerware artist. The two artists were first connected by Ippodo Gallery and Shigeru Uchida, renowned interiordesigner.

Surface Folds:Yukiya Izumita Clay Wares. Yukiya Izumita’s studio is situated in Noda Village, on the border between Iwate and Aomori prefectures, in Japan’s northernmost ceramic production area. Facing the Pacific Ocean, the Tohoku region’s distinctive climate is forged by strong winds and rough seas. WORKS - THE GARDEN OF DREAMS A surface completely covered in flowers; Yuki Hayama’s Offering Bowl with Ten Thousand Flowers is like a radiant dream. The form of the offering bowl suggests a sense of openness and vulnerability, one that can be filled with prayer and love. Stories tell of our ancestors, offering flowers to the ADORE | IPPODO GALLERY Published for the first time ADORE is the complete overview of the session – 200 pages include 324 frames, 10 contact sheets, together with 111 large format black and white portraits. For three and a half decades this collection remained private, near silent. Furthermore, the design of this art-book pays homage to Japanese 80s minimalism. WORKS - A LOTUS IN BLOOM Lotus: Beauty that Rises from the Mud Growing out of muddy water, the lotus produces flowers that represent purity and clarity, resulting its use as a symbol of Buddha’s wisdom. Although most often depicted with a Buddha sitting on a lotus Blossom, numerous cultures have used the flower to express EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS: Nakano’s Red Pine screen is a two part folding painting.
