Rise Prince George’s is an emerging group of county residents and allies advocating for policies and practices that build a shared, sustainable prosperity in Prince George’s County by creating safe, walkable, inclusive and transit-oriented communities. We are building our knowledge and group cohesion through meetings M-83: THE MIDCOUNTY HIGHWAY EXTENDED The Midcounty Highway Extended, or M-83, is a proposed limited access highway that would connect Montgomery County’s Clarksburg to Gaithersburg, and was initially proposed in the 1960s. The 6-lane highway, which would run parallel to Route 355 to the east, would harm wetlands, fragile stream valleys, the agricultural reserve, and divide existing neighborhoods in Montgomery Village and DC – A WORKING VISION FOR DOWNTOWN WARD 7 A Working Vision for Downtown Ward 7. EVENT: BUILDING INCLUSIVITY IN WARD 3 –WHAT’S IN THE April 27, 2021, CSG and Ward3Vision hosted an event to learn about the many tools we have to make Ward 3 a more inclusive, affordable place to live. ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are one such solution. An ADU is a secondary living unit in a house, with a separate entrance/exit. Examples of ADUs include basement apartments, backyard cottages, in-law suites, and garage apartments. METRO FUNDING AND GOVERNANCE REFORM! Metro funding and governance reform! In May, 2018, regional leaders in DC, MD, and VA made history by officially signing $500 million in annual dedicated funding for Metro. This is the first time in its 40+ year history that Metro has had a dedicated funding stream. CSG worked alongside the MetroNow and Fund It Fix coalitions to help pass the LIVABLE COMMUNITIES LEADERSHIP AWARD This annual award is named in honor of two of the smart growth community’s greatest volunteer advocates, Harry Sanders and Carl Henn.
