KARRABING FILM COLLECTIVE, THE FAMILY Karrabing Film Collective is an Indigenous media group who use filmmaking to interrogate the conditions of inequality for Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory and retain connections to land and their ancestors. Composed of some thirty extended family members whose ancestral lands stretch across saltwaters and inlands and the Italian Alps, Karrabing together create films using an SERPENTINE GALLERY PAVILION 2003 BY OSCAR NIEMEYER Oscar Niemeyer’s design for the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2003 was both simple and ingenious. Built in steel, aluminium, concrete and glass, the Pavilion’s ruby-red ramp contrasted with the surprise of a partly submerged auditorium, affording views across the park. ATELIER E.B: PASSER-BY The Serpentine presented Passer-by, an exhibition by Atelier E.B, the collaborative fashion label by designer Beca Lipscombe and artist Lucy McKenzie.. Taking the figure of the mannequin as its central theme, the exhibition transformed the Gallery into three distinct interiors: a bespoke showroom for Atelier E.B’s latest collection, in which visitors were able to try on and order clothes; a SERPENTINE CINEMA: SOPHIO MEDOIDZE, AB-JOY Sophio Medoidze screened a selection of her video work alongside Sergei Parajanov’s Kiyv Frescoes (1965-66). The Serpentine Podcast is a hybrid publishing and commissioning platform for audio. It supports a nomadic live broadcast radio station and a living archive of the Serpentine Galleries programme. As an editorial platform, it responds to a wider cultural and socio-political context while expanding upon the research and knowledge generated by theSERPENTINE PAVILION
Along with the Serpentine Gallery, the Serpentine Pavilion can accommodate summer receptions for up to 500 guests. Designs of the Pavilion vary dramatically, and this changes the capacity of the structure itself. The Manifesto Marathon came at a time when artists had begun to work less in formal groups and defined artistic movements.
