Guardian's Dahshur - Inside the Red Pyramid. Now, you enter the Red Pyramid for the first time. The original height of the pyramid was approximately 343 feet, while each side measured 722 feet. Modern steps have been installed to ease the ascension to the opening which is 94 feet above the ground level and between 12 - 13 feet east ofcenter.

150 feet in length. This Chamber is 18 feet 10 inches by 17 feet 2 inches, 15 feet high. Although this chamber has become known as the Queen's Chamber, it is unlikely that any queen was buried here. Far more consistent with earlier tombs, this room was probably used to house a life-size statue of the king, the internal version of aserdab.
GUARDIAN'S GIZA
At the south end of the Grand Gallery lies the passageway that leads to the antechamber and main chamber, the so-called King's or Burial chamber. The ladder in this picture leads up to a set of chambers known as the "relieving chambers". In a later installment of the CyberJourney new detailed pictures of the inside of these chamberswill be added.

Guardian's Giza - The Great Pyramid - The Pit. The Subterranean Chamber. In order to enter the pit, there is a descending passageway that is 345 feet long which terminates in a smaller 29 foot level passageway. As you enter the chamber you can see the modern barrier around the 11 foot deep shaft that is against the east wall of thechamber.

The Pyramid of Sahure . Here is the east side of the pyramid of Sahure as seen between two columns from its Mortuary Temple. Although this pyramid is in grave disrepair, the remains its temples have contributed to our understanding of the life of the pyramid complex. GUARDIAN'S MEIDUM II Guardian's Meidum II. Before the advent of the pyramid, Egyptian kings were buried in structures called "mastabas". Mastaba's were comprised of a shaft leading into underground passageways and chambers. A moundlike superstructure was built over these chambers and resembled an Arabic bench, hence the modern name "mastaba".THE PLATEAU
The Plateau - Official Website of Dr. Zahi Hawass - King Khufu. Khufu was the second king of Dynasty 4 of the Old Kingdom. We know very little about him, in spite of the fact that he built the most famous tomb in the ancient world, "The Great Pyramid", one of the seven wonders of the world.
