COLORADO FISHING NETWORK: NORTH PARK Up in central north Colorado rests a large valley, ringed by 12000-foot mountains. This valley, called "North Park", is home to some of the finest and most diverse fishing in the state. It is also a place you can step back in time, to when Colorado was all about ranching, small towns, and few crowds. There is a plethora of publicfishing
COLORADO FISHING NETWORK: HIGH COUNTRY TROUT Fishing high lakes is a different experience than reservoirs and streams. One difference is the short growing season. Lakes at 12,000 feet or higher may be open for only a couple of months. Feed conditions are more restricted and less varied than in low elevation waters. Colorado has an abundance of high elevation streams and lakes. COLORADO FISHING NETWORK: WHITE RIVER Access points on the White River (starting at Meeker and going upstream) Meeker City Park - from 10th St. bridge upstream to Circle park bridge. Following mileages are from start of County Road 8 at intersection with Hwy 13. Meeker Pasture SWA - 2 miles east on Cnty Rd. 8; 1/4 mile of river access. Wakara Ranch Access. COLORADO FISHING NETWORK: COLORADO RIVER TROUT A couple miles are open above the confluence on BLM land. Rancho Del Rio offers a shuttle service for anglers floating the Colorado. The river holds at least three varieties of trout – browns, rainbows, and cutthroats, or rainbow/cutthroat hybrids. The fish range in size from eight inches up. COLORADO FISHING NETWORK: CADDIS ON THE ARKANSAS RIVER A combination of water temperature and sunlight. The caddis hatch is preceded by a BWO hatch, or they can be concurrent, with BWO's coming out when the weather gets colder and cloudier. Colorado factors affect the hatch's progress and duration - water temp, air temp, sun, wind. When run-off gets severe, the hatch becomes much harder to fish. COLORADO FISHING NETWORK: CLEAR CREEK The is the third in a series about fishing in the Front Range foothills of Colorado. This week we will travel to Clear Creek. This creek, actually more of a river, is easily accessible and runs for miles. We all drive by it, probably en route to other fishing spots or skiing. However, keep Clear Creek in mind for a fishing spot closer tohome
