SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION The programmatic focus of the California GEAR UP Program is to develop and sustain the capacity of feeder sets of middle and high schools to prepare all students for higher education through a systemic network of support for the adults who influence secondary school students. By expanding the capacity of the adults, the expected result will be CALIFORNIA GEAR UP RESOURCES AND MATERIALS CLEARINGHOUSE Colleges offer many recreational opportunities, including organized, extracurricular sporting events and clubs. Many colleges also feature recreational places on campus that provide such activities as bowling, basketball, pool, video games, and ping-pong, for example. Many colleges also maintain a recreational gym for students to use. MAJOR IMPACT OF THE CALIFORNIA GEAR UP PROGRAM FOR THE Educational Trust Accounts were established for 5,607 students through ScholarShare — the state’s college savings program — for $2,000 each to pay a portion of their college education.
