SHAW WILDERNESS PARK (COLPITT & WILLIAMS LAKE) HIKING The Shaw Wilderness Park Brand new (Winter 2020) 153-hectare Shaw Wilderness Park encompasses two large, urban, preciously wild lakes. This newly protected wilderness park is the result of a collaboration of many groups and individuals, spearheaded by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Broad support helped this park come to fruition notably including previous landowner and namesake HEMLOCK RAVINE PARK MAP & GUIDE BAYERS LAKE MYSTERY WALLS MAP & GUIDE The Bayers Lake Mystery Walls. The mystery walls of Bayers Lake, are just that; a mystery. Educated guesses say they were likely built during the early settlement of Halifax, in the late 1700s or early 1800s. BEDFORD-SACKVILLE GREENWAY TRAIL MAP & GUIDE The Bedford-Sackville Greenway Trail The Bedford-Sackville Greenway Connector was officially opened in 2006. It joins the two communities by a gravel pathway, which runs underneath and parallel to highways and overpasses, and is surprisingly tranquil. It’s largely for people within the community looking to commute by foot or to just getout and be active.
POCKWOCK FALLS: MAP & HIKING GUIDE A Trail Through Time. The short hike to Pockwock Falls starts down a nondescript dirt road, followed by a sharp right turn into the woods, as you follow the river upstream for a short distance. The walk down the dirt road may seem boring, but when you put it in context, it’s actually very interesting. This road, called the Camptown Road used BELCHERS MARSH PARK MAP & GUIDE Belchers Marsh, located off of Parkland Drive in Clayton Park, is a great place to take the dog or the whole family for a Sunday stroll. The short hike to Pockwock Falls starts down a nondescript dirt road, followed by a sharp right turn into the woods, as you follow the river upstream for a short distance. The walk down the dirt road may seem boring, but when you put it in context, it’s actually very interesting.
