Our local school was a delight, even Sunday School at St Marys was enjoyable, and play time in the local fields on all the farm equipment was an adventure beyond (Read full memory) NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF HORDEN'S LOCAL HISTORY When I was three we moved from Horden to Coventry, my father Reuben Dinning was a miner. My first memory was visiting my grandparents, Will and Lydia Martin. They lived at 2 Ash Crescent. I also remember holidays at Crimdon Dean. I was amazed to be able to see the sea from the landing window of my granparents' house. NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF GRAYS'S LOCAL HISTORY Grays 1951 1969. I was born at the Orsett Hospital in March 1951. First home was in Palmerston Road South Stifford. My first School was Stifford Primary at the top of Mill Lane, the walk up the hill seems to be awfully long now for a 5 year old. NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF LITHERLAND'S LOCAL HISTORY Lander Road/Beechwood Road. My Mum was born in Lawler Street one of 12 children. My Dad was from Beechwood Road and they lived there after they married until 1948 when they moved to the new housing estate Cumpsty Road. My parents were both brought up in the Chiswick/Bedford Park/South Acton area. I was born in 1935 and spent my early years living on the Great West Road near to the Gillette factory. My first memory was visiting my grandparents, Will and Lydia Martin. They lived at 2 Ash Crescent. I also remember holidays at Crimdon Dean. I was amazed to be able to see the sea from the landing window of my granparents' house. NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF GRAYS'S LOCAL HISTORY Grays 1951 1969. I was born at the Orsett Hospital in March 1951. First home was in Palmerston Road South Stifford. My first School was Stifford Primary at the top of Mill Lane, the walk up the hill seems to be awfully long now for a 5 year old. I do remember a Mrs Ridd as a teacher who used to produce the annual Christmas nativity, Mr Morgan NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF WIMBLEDON'S LOCAL HISTORY My Dad. My dad was born at Wimbledon in 1922. He told me that his parents had a family business called Potts corners that included a fish n chips shop, a garage and a gentlemans club. His dad George Potter, was also a sign painter and a French polisher. The family business got bombed out in the war but the whole family survived. NOSTALGIC MEMORIES OF SOUTH OCKENDON'S LOCAL HISTORY Moved to Orchard Road South Ockendon from the east End (Canning Town) in 69 went to Mardyke school, still remember good memories about that school, can remember going down to the Mardyke river, there was a very shallow part near the bridge, this was when you could go down Buckles Lane and walk through the old army barracks (Read full memory) 1.
