Liddell (1902 – 1945) Eric Henry Liddell was born on 16 th January 1902 in Tientsin (Tianjin) North China, second son of the Rev. & Mrs. James Dunlop Liddell who were missionaries with the London Mission Society. He was educated from 1908 to 1920 at Eltham College, Blackheath, school for the sons ofmissionaries.

The Great War memorial windows of 1920 are among the earliest and were created by the London firm of Clayton (John Richard, 1827 – 1913) and Bell (Alfred, 1832 -1895) of Regent Street, London. The artists of these three windows remain unknown at present. For older people in particular, being socially isolated increases the risk of falls and can worsen existing health conditions such as Alzheimer’s or heart disease. The Great War memorial windows of 1920 are among the earliest and were created by the London firm of Clayton (John Richard, 1827 – 1913) and Bell (Alfred, 1832 -1895) of Regent Street, London. The artists of these three windows remain unknown at present. The Centre interior was very substantially altered and renovated in two phases duringOUR HISTORY
After a year of discussion, on the 31st October 1978, four Edinburgh churches, Christ Church, Morningside, Morningside Congregational Church (where Eric Liddell was a member and taught Bible Class – now known as Morningside United Church), Morningside Baptist Church. and North Morningside Parish Church agreed: To encourage the setting up of a Centre as proposed, subject to sufficient SOUTH WEST VILLAGES PROJECT The Eric Liddell Centre is proud to reach out to communities across Edinburgh- an example of this is the South West Villages Project. which ran from 2017-2019.. The project was developed to map and assess the various programmes and services available to older residents within the smaller, more isolated villages in the South West of Edinburgh – Juniper Green, Currie and Balerno. SPACES - ERIC LIDDELL CENTRE Spaces. The Eric Liddell Centre has several rooms and suits of various sizes available to hire to clubs, charities, organisations and companies. The Centre is located an eight minute bus ride away from the very heart of the city centre. Our service includes the hire of a room and setting up of required furniture. CONTACT - ERIC LIDDELL CENTRE There is a limited amount of on street metered parking in Chamberlain Road and Colinton Road for periods of up to two hours. For longer term parking there are nine hour parking bays in Clinton Road, five minutes from the centre between Whitehouse Loan and Church Hill. OUR STAFF - ERIC LIDDELL CENTRE Irene is the Carers Support and Development Officer. She has over 20 years’ experience in health and social residential and day care services. FOLLOWING NATIONAL ADVICE AND GUIDANCE FROM THE GOVERNMENT, THE ERIC LIDDELL CENTRE IS NOW CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! COVID-19 UPDATE - DAY CARE SERVICE MESSAGE FROM THE CEO OF THE ERIC LIDDELL CENTRE RE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) & SOCIAL CARE RESPONSE I WANT TO REASSURE YOU THAT WE ARE TAKING ALL AVAILABLE MEASURES TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF OUR SERVICE USERS AND OUR CARERS. A DIFFICULT DECISION HAS BEEN TAKEN BY THE EDINBURGH HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE PARTNERSHIP TO STEP DOWN COMMISSIONED DAY OPPORTUNITIES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE – THIS INCLUDES THE ERIC LIDDELL CENTRES DAY CARE SERVICE. THEREFORE, CLIENTS WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE ERIC LIDDELL CENTRE DAY CARE SERVICE DUE TO A PAUSE IN SERVICE PROVISION, WHICH WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS ARE BEING MADE TO ENSURE THAT CLIENTS PERSONALLY, OR SOMEONE THEY CARE FOR, WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE THE SUPPORT NEEDED TO REMAIN AT HOME AND THEY WILL BE CONTACTED TO CONFIRM WHAT THESE ARRANGEMENTS ARE.
