THE PULL-UP RESISTOR: HOW IT WORKS AND CHOOSING A VALUE How To Choose a Pull-Up Resistor Value. Rule 1: The value can’t be too high. The higher the pull-up value, the lower the voltage on the input becomes. It’s important that the voltage is high enough for the chip to see it as a HIGH, or logical 1, input. The amplifier is one of the simplest I have encountered and it gives out a decent sound. Only a few components are needed. HOW DOES A 555 TIMER WORK? It has two inputs, set (S) and reset (R). S sets the output (Q) to high and R resets it to low.. Q is always the opposite of Q.. Comparator 1 checks if the voltage on the Trigger pin is below 1/3 of V CC.If it is, it sets the flip-flop so that the Output pin becomes high.. Comparator 2 checks if the voltage on the Threshold pin is above 2/3 of VCC. If it is, it resets the flip-flop so that the 555 TIMER TUTORIAL AND CIRCUITS When the 555 Timer is in astable mode it means that the output will never be stable. The output will keep switching between HIGH and LOW forever. That means it works as an oscillator. You can use this to blink a light, create sound, control motors, and much more! CIRCUIT CALCULATOR AND CONVERSION RESOURCES FOR ELECTRONICS Check out our circuit calculator and conversion resources for finding component values and calculating things in electronics.BASIC ELECTRONICS
Basic Electronics Resource Library. If you want to learn and build your own inventions with electronics, you need to learn the basics of electronics. Without a good understanding of basic concepts such as current and voltage, it's going to be hard (or impossible) to understand how different circuits work. But it doesn't have to behard.
PCB TERMINOLOGY 101
A path made of copper on a PCB. It is used in the same manner as electrical wires, to connect the components of a board. A hole with copper inside to provide electrical connection between a trace on one layer to a trace on a different layer of the PCB. Pads are used to solder surface mount devices to the board. 555 TIMER CALCULATOR An easy-to-use 555 timer calculator that gives you frequency and time high/low for astable mode. And output pulse duration for monostable. EAGLE AUTOROUTER TUTORIAL Select the net you want to change and at the bottom choose the net class you want for this net. Then click “Ok”. The net classes must be set before you route your board. Changing the settings afterwards will not affect the already routed nets. Step 3: Run the Eagle autorouter. It is time to use the autoroute function. A REALLY SIMPLE ARDUINO OSCILLOSCOPE TUTORIAL This Arduino oscilloscope is perfect if you need an oscilloscope right now, but all you have is an Arduino.. Update: There’s an even easier way to do this now. Check out my new article on how to build an Arduino oscilloscope with 7 lines of code.. I needed an oscilloscope to debug my Radar Arduino library.. The code worked perfectly when it was not in “Arduino library”-form.HOW TO SOLDER
Now you’re ready to start soldering. Put the tip of the iron on the pad so that it heats both the leg of the component and the pad of the circuit board. Heat them for a second or so before you apply solder. Keep the iron on the joint while you add solder. When Build Electronic Circuits Electronics explained in a simple way* Start Learning

LATEST FROM THE BLOG HOW TO SOLDER – A SIMPLE GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS AND HOBBYISTS Everyone can learn how to solder. And it's an important skill to know want to build electronics. Basic soldering is easy. All you need is a soldering iron and some solder. When my dad taught me as a teenager, I remember picking it up quite fast. Also, check out my ...Read More
CAN KIDS LEARN ELECTRONICS FROM OHMIFY? In these corona days, a lot of kids are stuck at home. And I've been asked many times by parents around the world if Ohmify is suitable for kids. Here's what Thomas Jones from Texas (a new Ohmify member) told me in an email last week: "I'm using the basic ...Read More
PCB DESIGN: HOW TO CREATE A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD To create a Printed Circuit Board (PCB), you need to draw holes, pads, and wires for your circuit. This skill is called PCB design and is highly useful. When you're done, send the design to a manufacturer or you etch it yourself. Sounds hard? Don't worry, there are many free...

ELECTRONIC SCHEMATICS – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Electronic schematics are like recipes for electronics. They tell you what ingredients to use and how to mix the ingredients. But instead of using text to explain the recipe, a drawing is used. They are also called circuit diagrams. Read how to read schematics here ...Read More
CIRCUIT IDEAS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Circuit ideas are everywhere! There are many places to find cool circuits. The greatest sources for my inspiration are hacker/maker/electronics blogs, schematic webpages, hobby project pages, and open-source hardware companies. Or you can also check out some electronic kits for inspiration. Sometimes I just want to try toreplicate an ...
