Modern Horizons 2: Spoilers and More! Modern Horizons 2 is scheduled to be released on June 18, 2021, and the Quiet Speculation team is hyped! Joe takes a look at the highlights from each day of spoilers and helps you prepare for release day. Read More By Sigmund Ausfresser| Mon 5/24/21.
ON MODERN HORIZONS 2 PRICES Glancing at pre-order prices, Sig noticed Modern Horizons 2 is coming out of the gate on the expensive side. This week, he makes some comparisons to the first Modern Horizons to create his prognosis for prices for the set's singles. SURPRISING VALUE IN OLD COLLECTIBLE CARD GAMES It was $50 back in 2012, then spiked to $150 in 2013, slowly drifted down to $65 through 2017, then spiked back to $140 in 2018. From there, it has bounced between $100 and $150 before fading back toward $100 again in 2020. Card Kingdom’s $50 buy price doesn’t give me confidence in its outperformance going forward. FORGOTTEN REALMS: SPOILERS AND MORE! Forgotten Realms: Spoilers and More! Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, Magic ‘s 88th expansion, is scheduled to be released on July 23, 2021. Set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms contains 281 cards and will continue to include randomly inserted premium versions of all the cards. OFFSPRING'S REVENGE: THE MOST FUN YOU'LL HAVE IN STANDARD Offspring’s Revenge is the namesake of this deck and having one on the table is when the deck is going to be performing at its nutty best. For five mana, you get an enchantment that, at the beginning of combat, brings back a white, black, or red creature from your graveyard as a 1/1 token that still has all of its effects and such. CHAIN OF SMOG: FROM BULK TO BROKEN. THE GUIDE TO SELLING FOREIGN CARDS ON TCGPLAYER Even though I did say that foreign EDH cards do sell on TCGPlayer, they usually sell at a discount to English versions, even if they are premium language. To determine if a premium language card will sell at a discount, you generally want to look at the number of foreign versions listed on TCGPlayer. For example, a card like MaelstromArchangel

With every store, event, FNM, or another tournament, there are bound to be rules issues, as Magic is a vastly complex game with cryptic and sometimes counter-intuitive rulings. Posted on November 2, 2020. November 1, 2020. by Sigmund Ausfresser. As Standard’s metagame evolved post-rotation, a host of new commons and uncommons are seeing significantly more play. This week Sig examines these cards and identifies top bulk picks for a future buylist. FORGOTTEN REALMS: SPOILERS AND MORE! Forgotten Realms: Spoilers and More! CHAIN OF SMOG: FROM BULK TO BROKEN. The second part of this combo is an uncommon card from Onslaught, Chain of Smog . This combo has turned this seemingly useless piece of bulk, into a card worth almost $15 apiece. The way this combo works is very interesting. ASSET EXPLOSION: AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS The index as a whole rose from $15.71 to $19.60 in 2020, a 25% increase in one year! The list doesn’t end here, either. Pokemon cards have risen to nose-bleed levels as wealthy investors decide to participate in the collectible card game market. Star Wars (Decipher) CCG cards have climbed, with sealed product selling for never-before-seen prices. WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH ZENDIKAR RISING EXPEDITIONS? As always, I’m hot on picking up “bling” non-foil copies of cards for my speculating purposes, and I think the $11-$12 mark is a sweet price to be getting these at, especially if you’re trading up in your buylisting adventures. Twenty dollar foils are a little out of my range when it comes to speculating, but I still think that’s aSKELETON ARCHER

Sigmund first started playing Magic when Visions was the newest set, back in 1997. Things were simpler back then. After playing casual Magic for about ten years, he tried his hand at competitive play. It took about two years before Sigmund startingtaking down drafts.
