Mamata Banerjee condoled Tapas Pal’s death in an emotional post on Twitter. (Photo: Reuters) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee remembered Bengali actor and former Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal in an emotional post on social media. Tapas Pal died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Mumbai on February 18. He was 61. In a post on Twitter, Banerjee said she is in a state of shock, adding that Tapas Pal will be missed dearly. "Saddened and shocked to hear about the demise of Tapas Pal. He was a superstar of Bengali cinema who was a member of the Trinamool family. Tapas served the people as a two-term MP and MLA. We will miss him dearly. My condolences to his wife Nandini, daughter Sohini and his many fans," Mamata Banerjee said in her tweet.See her post here:
In his political career, Tapas Pal has been an MLA from Alipore for two terms and the MP of Krishnanagar from 2009 to 2019. Tapas Pal visited his daughter in Mumbai a few days ago. While returning to Kolkata, he complained of chest pain at the Mumbai airport and was immediately hospitalised in Juhu but he died around 4am, news agency PTI reports, citing family sources. Over the past two years, Tapas Pal has been hospitalised quite a few times as he had been suffering from heart ailments.advertisement
