------------------------- TV presenter Elaine Crowley hopes that everyone, including her fellow celebrities, will be kinder online after the tragic death of CarolineFlack.
Since the news of the presenter’s death, famous faces are appealing for less negativity online and calling on their followers to “be kind”. But for daytime TV host Elaine (41), everyone needs to take a reality check when it comes to their personal social media accounts – and celebrities themselves have a huge part to play in making the online world a better place. “Look, I know a lot of people get absolute bile online. I don’t really get that, not on a regular basis,” she said. “I had a bit of an incident on Facebook last week but that was shut down quickly. “But it does happen…certain people will push and push and push and see people in the public eye as fair game, if they’re a famous important person; if they’re on TV they wrongly believe that they deserve everything they get. “But I had to think about the way I talk about people like the Kardashians and I’m being a hypocrite for slagging them off. Who am I to give my strong opinion on them? But I do, so it’s caused me to reflect quite strongly on what I do myself online and on the Elaineshow.
“We’re all guilty to an extent. So it does no harm to take a step back and think about what you’re writing. It’s not even about being kind, you don’t have to go out of your way and be a jerk tosomebody.”
