BREASTFEEDING ADVOCACY AND PRACTICE (BAP) COURSE The aim of the course is to develop participants’ knowledge and skills to support mothers and babies, and advocate for change to improve infant feeding practices. WHO and UNICEF recommend: * Early initiation of breastfeeding within 1 hour of birth. * Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life. * Continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond, with introduction of nutritionally adequate and safe complementary (solid)foods at 6 months.

WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF and an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). WABA coordinates the annual World Breastfeeding Weekcampaign.
