I am going through hiking boots every few months. It is getting expensive. I recently bought a pair of Salomon Quest 4d's and now many of the eyelets which hold the laces have torn out and some of the rubber in the toe area is delaminating. Yes, I am very hard on my boots because of the intense volume of hiking I do, but I feel that there have to be more rugged, durable boots out there which SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ON GOGGLES FOR WINTER HIKING I've been hiking in my older ski goggles for years now (haven't done much winter hiking until recently) and I really do not like the pair I currently have so I've been searching for a better option. I will be spending significant amounts of time above treeline this year and don't think my current pair will perform very well. Curious everyone's opinion on the below particulars. ADJUSTING TENSION ON NNN BC BINDINGS Posts. 2,804. NNN BC is convenient to use until it breaks on the trail. Three Pin bindings and/or bindings that use cables for duckbill boots are far easier to work on for general maintenance and repair. Most Three pin bindings mount with three screws where the heads of the screws are exposed and easily accessible. SUBSTITUTE FOR SEAM SEALER I have to seam seal a lot of tents - I mean A LOT. The seam sealers I've used before come in very small containers, a few oz. What IS seam sealer anyway? Is there a commonly available substitute I can buy in a quart or gallon container? Can I make it myself from common petrochemicals? Seams like silicone sealer caulking diluted with denatured alcohol might work, but I don't know for sure. HOW TO WASH "BEAN" BOOTS?? QUESTIONS ABOUT PARKING WHILE CAMPING IN BAXTER STATE PARK. I'm going to Maine in August. This will be my first trip to Baxter State Park. I have reserved a lean-to site at Roaring Brook campground. My question is about parking there. Is there a driveway for each lean-to site, or will I have to park in one of the two parking areas I see and carry all my stuff to my lean-to? I also plan to be pulling a trailer with an adventure motorcycle on it. You can also loop your rope around the ends of the boards, or tie to nearby trees. In a pinch, jam a piece of wood or stake between the boards and use that as an anchor. Bring along a bit more rope/cord than you would normally use, but you really don't need much more prep than that. -dave-. 04-26-2005, 10:19 AM #5.FEATHER PILE?
Awoke this morning to find a pile of feathers in the front yard. I mean like a two feet around and about an inch deep. Lots of down mixed into it. What was it? We do have coyote and fox around the neighborhood, one of which I suspect was the predator, but I have no proof. Nobody heard any noises last night. It was definitely done atnight.

If you choose to load maps from your computer, use a fresh microSD card- BASECAMP WON'T RECOGNIZE GARMIN GPS PROBLEM (AND SOLUTION!) Awhile back (maybe last Spring) I had posted about an issue I was having where BaseCamp just randomly stopped recognizing my GPS (Garmin GPSMAP62). I did a ton of reading, installed and uninstalled, etc to no avail. After a few months I was going to send to Garmin when -BAM- it worked just fine again. So I chalked it up to some sort of Windowsupdate conflict.

After lugging a big set of balls--snowballs that is--the entire Westkill traverse on Saturday, I'm now wondering if there is a way to keep snowshoe crampons from balling up in warm snow conditions. I'm thinking about melting on some warm temp cross-country glide wax, but am not sure that would do the job.* Help
