UNKNOWN VINTAGE FLAG... USMC GENERAL? Bob is correct, it is not a USMC general flag. It is the second highest ranking 4 star admiral present. GREEK RETURN M1 BAYONETS So what is this black paint looking finish on the Greek bayonets? I was just about to acetone one to see what the surface was like underneath it, then I stopped myself to inquire of more knowledgeable folk. On the M1 I have in hand, it appears to be MY PHILLIPS OFFICERS SADDLE These are photos of my Phillips M1936 Officers saddle. This particular saddle was manufactured in 1948 at The Jeffersonville Quartermater depot. Probably one of the last produced. It is in unused condition. He served in South Korea in 1954 to 1956 as a Military Police (951.10). WHAT WOULD A COXSWAIN'S DUTY BE ON A BATTLESHIP IN WWII By that time coxswain was just a holdover, a traditional title from the old days. A coxswain was really a boatswain's mate 3rd class, which they became in 1948, and their duties were the same as other boatswain's mates: Handling anchors and deck tackle, winches, cranes, davits, rigging rope, cable, canvas and above-deck seamanship in general as well as handling boats, plus a working knowledge M1 RIFLE BARREL MARKINGS & DATES Hi all, What is the meaning of the numbers/markings on top of WW2 SA M1 Rifle barrels. US WWII 37MM AND 75MM ORDNANCE I have two WWII new, empty 75mm cases and one 37mm empty case and empty projectile. I would like to determine where the cases and projectile were made. M1 HELMET LOT NUMBERS WW2-VIETNAM Please note not all pictures are mine and are being used as examples of different variations. Schlueter MFG- Produced helmets from January 1943- October 1945. Lot number is recognized as having 2 to 3 numbers followed by a letter over a large "S". WW2 Mccord Radiator- Produced helmets from June 1941- September 1945. .30 CAL M1 AMMO BOX MARKINGS The "LC TR 12254" is a lot number from 1944 for .30 cal. M1 tracer made at Lake City Ordnance Plant, the "BL 13077-C" is the lot number for .30 cal. M2 ball made at Lake City in 1943. The wide variance in manufacturing dates would suggest a repacked lot of belted or linked rounds sometime after the date of the 1944 lot number.SANITARY TRAIN?
Share. #4. Posted June 7, 2009. This still doesn't answer the Gary's question, but it corrects some of the information in my previous post. The sanitary train of a division was comprised of one hundred officers and 1,300 enlisted men under the command of the division surgeon, usually a colonel or lieutenant colonel. I found this 1942 Ford Jeep for sale. I took a good look at it and it is in pretty decent shape, I guess, for 69 years old. ItJump to content
