VESAK DAY CELEBRATION Last Thursday, May 7, 2020, Vesak Day, also known as "Visakha Puja" or "Buddha Day" was celebrated around the world. It is the holiest day in the Buddhist calendar. THE WEEKLY SHOT: GIDAN BEGE (HOUSE OF HOPE) ORPHANAGE HOME 10 May 2021, 10:49 AM. Atuman Memorial Foundation (a URI member group in Kamazou, Kaduna, Nigeria) is a sponsor for the Gidan Bege (House of Hope) Orphanage Home. The children who live here return from their studies at school to a place they call home, where they can be further trained in skills that will better their future lives. INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL DAY CELEBRATION UNAKITA was formed to work with families that need guidance on the autistic spectrum, to encourage adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to manage independently through workshops, and to raise awareness and report on ASD to those who want to know more to integrate with people who have this diagnosis. Advent - the four-week season of preparation for the birth of Christ, and for the Second Coming. Often an Advent wreathe is used as a focus for prayer during Advent. Christmas - Jesus' birth - often celebrated with ISLAM: CELEBRATIONS AND FESTIVALS Id ul-Adha. The Hajj, whether on pilgrimage or at home, ends with the festival of Id ul-Adha in which a sheep or goat is sacrificed. This is a reminder of the sacrifice Ibrahim (Abraham) was asked to make of his son, Isma'il (Ishmael). When Ibrahim was just about to sacrifice his son to show his obedience to God, God provided a lamb instead.
