ironic?  _Way back,  Autodesk had a wonderful idea of using blogs to build community.  When we first built the team, it was a global endeavour and if we included all the team members that have manned this pillar of knowledge, easily, we would have had over 100 years of experience and skills.   We are all honoured that you made a visit on

MAYA ON LINUX HANGS AND CANNOT BE RESTARTED AFTER FORCE QUIT Some users have reported that Maya licensing hangs after it has been force quit. Trying to relaunch Maya results in Maya just hanging. This appears due to Maya's process keeping the adlmmutex file locked (AdlmMutex::Lock). To get around this issue, we can set up the following system variable: > MAYA_DISABLE_CASCADING=1 Usually a variable can be setup at system level. But Maya is particularly helpful in letting us set up Maya-specific variables directly in the _Maya.env_ file, to avoid cluttering the system settings with customised variables. Location of _Maya.env_ changes depending on our system. On Linux, it usually is located in either one

of these paths:

* ~/maya/version

* ~/maya/

STINGRAY DEPLOYMENT AND NETWORK LICENSING SHOWS ACTIVATION SCREEN ON

FIRST LAUNCH.

ISSUE:

When Stingray is installed from Deployment image with Network License Type. It is launched with Standalone license activation window.

FOLDER REDIRECTION,ROAMING PROFILE AUTODESK INSTALL/STARTUP ERROR 1606

ISSUE:

THE BORROWING PERIOD ESTABLISHED FOR THE LICENSE SERVER IS NOT VALID.

_ISSUE:_

When you tried to borrow a license, you received the following error

message:

_You cannot borrow a license at this time. The borrowing period established for the license server is not valid. Contact your system administrator to have the borrowing period reset to a value of at least one day (24 hours)_

FOLDER REDIRECTION,ROAMING PROFILE AUTODESK INSTALL/STARTUP ERROR 1606

AND 1317

ISSUE:

Unable to Install or launch Autodesk applications while using redirected use profile  folders. Common errors include _Error 1606 "Could not access network location"_ _Error 1317: An error occurred while attempting to create the

directory._

_Error 1325 - 'Documents' is not a valid short file name"_

CAUSE:

If you use FOLDER REDIRECTION instead of roaming profile setup, some of the Installer functionality would fail, mainly due to Permission

issues.

SOLUTION:

Please use the following solutions to fix the immediate issue. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/886549/you-receive-an-error-1606-error-message-when-you-try-to-install-or-remove-a-microsoft-program ROOT CAUSE AND SOLUTION: Microsoft recommends following method to Deploy Roaming User Profiles. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj649079(v=ws.11).aspx When folder redirection is used, some of functionality within windows installer might fail due to permission issue. for e.g.Disk cost calculation on the folder share on the network. \\server\sharename\%username%. If User wouldn't have read permission on \\server\sharename, installer could fail. If the roaming profile is setup properly without folder redirection, user profile would be transparent to Windows applications.
