CLASSROOM STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES Classroom Strategies and Techniques. Managing Tourette Syndrome or a Tic Disorder in the classroom requires knowledge and understanding. These are the key elements to creating an accepting and supportive educational environment. When school personnel have information about Tourette Syndrome (TS), students have greater opportunities forsuccess.
CBIT, HRT, HABIT REVERSAL THERAPY, BEHAVIOR THERAPY CBIT is a non-medicated treatment consisting of three important components: (a) Training the patient to be more aware of his or her tics and the urge to tic. (b) Training patients to do competing behavior when they feel the urge to tic. (c) Making changes to day today activities in
SPEECH THERAPIES AND PATHOLOGIES As we know, people with TS can have co-occurring conditions, such as a learning disability, ADHD, OCD, or social language impairment. When these diagnoses co-occur, there is a greater chance that the individual may benefit from speech pathology services. TICS IN THE CLASSROOM, HOW TO HANDLE HELP STUDENTS MANAGE TICS Managing Extreme Tics In Class. In some rare instances, tics in the classroom may be frequent, intense and truly disruptive or dangerous. Include a person knowledgeable about TS when conducting a Functional Behavioral Assessment and when developing a positive and proactive plan regarding tics. UP TO ME - TEENS - TOURETTE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA UpToMe is an evidence- based program that was originally developed for disclosure about mental health issues and reducing stigma through personal storytelling. The program gives participants an opportunity to go through a decision-making process on self-disclosure and practice in a safe way.
