NOTES ON CLARINET CONCERTO BY AARON COPLAND Clarinetists are greatly indebted to Benny Goodman for some of our greatest twentieth century repertoire. His commissions brought about such works as Bartok's Contrasts and Stravinsky's Ebony concerto.Aaron Copland's Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra with Harp and Piano is another such commission, one which Copland eagerly accepted, stating, though, that it would have never occurredCLARINET SWABS
Using a Swab. There is actually a technique for using a swab. With the clarinet put together, remove the mouthpiece. Turn the clarinet upside down so that the bell is up in the air. Completely unfold the swab and run it through your hand to straighten it. Also remove any tangles orknots in the cord.
CHOOSING AND USING A METRONOME A metronome is a device that generates a regular sound to indicate beats. Older metronomes worked like old-fashioned wind-up clocks. A pendulum was powered by a wind-up spring, and a movable weight on the end of the pendulum determined the speed of the beat (tempo).
