FIRST MAYOR OF AMES PASSES The first mayor of The City of Ames, Texas, passed away after a brief illness last week. Donatto was elected in 1972 as the first mayor of the newly incorporated city. Liberty’s City Hall council chamber had a full house Tuesday night, and council members got an earful from residents unhappy about an ordinance amendment the city adopted last June requiring residential properties to pass an inspection whenever there is a change in ownership. The ordinance prevented utilities from being connected at a newly purchased home until the inspection was passed and the homeowner obtaining a certificate of occupancy.*
