OPEN CALL EXHIBITION Ayanna Dozier (PhD) is a writer, lecturer, curator, filmmaker, and performance artist. Her experimental short film Softer (2020) was part of the official selection showcase in several 2020 fall film festivals, including Open City Documentary Festival and the Aesthetica Short Film Festival where it was the recipient of Best Experimental. Her doctoral dissertation, “Mnemonic Aberrations AN AUDIENCE WITH THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC Tonight’s concert marks the New York Philharmonic’s first indoor performance for a live audience since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a Janus-like moment for New York’s Orchestra—looking back to what they most value of the past, but in a context that reflects what they’ve learned from the past year and will bring to the future. OPEN CALL: ESTEBAN JEFFERSON Devra Freelander, a friend of Esteban Jefferson, was a talented New York City artist who passed away in 2019. On the street corner where she died, a community of Freelander’s loved ones have maintained and added to a grassroots memorial adorned with flowers, candles, and photographs that is full of vibrant colors reminiscent of her neonsculptures.

TONY COKES - THE SHED Tony Cokes’s video artwork uses quotes from writings by philosophers, musicians, politicians, and cultural figures. Placing these words on brightly colored, presentation-style backgrounds, Cokes then sets them to soundtracks of popular music from Drake toMorrissey.
