We all know that many of the hazardous chemicals in conventional cleaning products are often carcinogens, neurotoxins, mutagens, teratogens, or endocrine disrupters. Of course these toxins are having a negative effect on our bodies and those of our children. We know this! Ditching them in favor of natural cleaning products should be ano-brainer.
If you aren’t already using green cleaning products, what’s holding you back? Price? Well… I’m here to show you how cheap and easy it is to make your own DIY household cleaners. It only costs $1.20 to make a 16oz bottle of all-purpose kitchen cleaner? BARGAIN! The glass bottles cost anywhere from $3.50 – $7.00 and you can reuse them time and time again! When you get started with your doTERRA starter pack you will be able to replace all these things with a natural, non-toxic alternative… ⇾ Fruit and Veggie Wash⇾ Kitchen Cleaner

DANDELION FRITTER RECIPE AND A NEW MOTHER’S DAY TRADITION May 14, 2018 By DonniLeave a Comment
My dear friend, Michelle, posted photos yesterday on Instagram of her delicious Mother’s Day breakfast… dandelion fritters. It turns out that dandelion fritters, cooked by her gorgeous daughter, is her family’s new Mother’s Day tradition. I LOVE this idea (look how yummy they look!) and so I have decided to actively work on making dandelion fritters (cooked by my lil’ chickens) my family’s new Mother’s Day tradition too. “Tell us how you make them, Michelle?” I asked and she (the do-it-now person that she is) immediately sent through a sweet post, written by her and her daughter, for me to share with y’all here. What I especially love about this little story is how traditions can naturally unfurl. I imagine Michelle picking dandelions with her daughter when she was still a little girl and the experience they shared of making dandelion fritters over a camp fire together… dandelions became a magic that connected them and now, all these years later, they connect them still. The mother gifting a magical experience to the child and then, years later, the grown child gifting that same magical experience to the mother. Childhood magic giving way to adult magic and showing us that everything we do (or did) with our little ones can have a lasting depth of meaning as we journey with them into the newness ahead. Thank you, my sweet friend.:: ::
Dandelion Fritters
Sometimes new traditions are born as our children become more fully in this world. While the blissful magic of the younger years seems to wane, their skills and confidence and independent creativity increase. One Mother’s Day you may wake up to find your child has gathered, battered, and fried up an amazingly beautiful treat in your honor! Here is how your child may describe it – or at least how mine did. “I always love eating from the land. It feels so special to eat something that you’ve worked hard to create, with the help of MotherEarth, of course.
We made them together once before, many years ago at an overnight campout with our Full Moon Girls wilderness group, we made dandelion fritters over the camp fire. We harvested the blossoms, mixed up the batter, and fried them in a cast iron pan over a carefully made cooking fire. They were fun to eat and tasted bitter and sweet all atonce.
Here’s how you can make these wild-crafted treats: Harvest open dandelion blossoms leaving long stems on so it will be easier to handle them later. Make up your favorite pancake batter. 4 drops of Wild Orange essentialoil ,
some cinnamon, and a nice “glug” of almond extract makes it extrayummy.
Heat a cast iron pan with a generous amount of butter (best!) or oil. Aim for about 1/8 inch oil in the pan. Hold the flower by its stem and dip it into the batter. Wiggle it around to make sure the flower head gets coated with the batter. An important tip is NOT to get much batter on the part of the flower head that is on the stem side, the part that will not touch the pan, or else you will have raw batter on the tops of your fritters. Continuing to hold the dandelion by the stem, put the coated flower petals down into the oiled or buttered pan with the stems sticking up. Add more until the pan is full but leave room between them so they are not touching and not oozing into each other. Cook until bottoms are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain if desired. Place on a beautiful plate, stems up. The stems will be how you pick the fritters up, but do not eat the stems as they are very bitter. Give to your mother on Mother’s Day and she will love it!” As our children move through their years of the Good and the Beautiful into the years of the True, we can often feel bereft of magic, ritual, and beloved nourishing traditions. It takes courage, imagination, and an observant heart to see that the good and beautiful seeds we planted are growing true to form just as they are supposed to. From dandelion wishes and dandelion chains to dandelion fritters…all is Good, Beautiful, and True.:: ::
What a beautiful Mother’s Day tradition! Blessings and magic,Donni

ROADTRIPPIN’ TO RISD April 27, 2018 By DonniLeave a Comment
It’s Spring Break. And I’m so happy to report that Spring has finally sprung! At this moment, I’m actually sitting in a ray of sunshine and the warmth seeping into my body feels sooooo goooood! Yay!! A couple of days ago, Kitty and I decided to throw caution to the wind and set out on an impromptu adventure. We escaped to Providence, RI, for a night… to explore, shop and eat yummy food. We weren’t disappointed by this eclectic lil city… Providence is a gorgeous! Notwithstanding our AirBnB was over a PUB! Our trip started off with coffee and treats from our favorite local coffee shop in Keene, Brewbakers . If you are in this area, this coffee shop is a must. They brew their own organic, locally roasted coffee blend that is sooooo good. And you must try the almond blackberry croissants. They are unshareable. Providence is a quaint city of narrow little one-way streets and neat brick buildings. We loved how the houses looked like they were still in the 18 hundreds. Each had a little plaque on it that reported who had lived in the house and when, making it easy to daydream back intime.
And it is full of charmingly eclectic shops of trendy handmade goodies. Oh, the thrift stores… Kitty was in heaven!! We had to stop at each one… each and EVERY one. We found a favorite restaurant called the Duck And Bunny and ate there twice as we discovered that they put A LOT of Nutella on their chocolate banana crepes! And then we visited RISD, of course. Their museum is a gem with a very beautiful collection of masters. I found that Pissaro had painted my farm. The one I know from my dreams… right down to the cows in thefield!

REMOVING THE FLUFF
April 24, 2018 By Donni2 Comments
I love this poem. I love it because it makes me see how easy things can be. We make things more difficult by all the fluffy stuff we cover them in. Sometimes, in order to move forward, we just need to do what we know we need to do. I like to also replace the ‘she let go’ with ‘she did it’.SHE LET GO
She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go. She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go. She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go. She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right. She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go. She didn’t analyze whether she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go. No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go. There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that. In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moonshone forevermore.
