Let me tell you why. Of course, I’m almost entirely talking about the medieval fortified part of the town, but I’ll add a point or two about the bit outside the city walls too 🙂 THE AUSTRALIAN WOMAN LIVING IN A 72-ROOM FRENCH CHATEAU Meet Jane Webster, an Australian woman who has just spent lockdown in a 72-room chateau in Normandy. TEN THINGS (BESIDES BREAD) THAT THE FRENCH CALL A Hi guys, just a quick language observation here: Did you know that the French word baguette doesn’t just mean a long and delicious piece of bread?. No. It means much more. And I learned this after someone offered me baguettes in a sushi restaurant in Paris, referring to chopsticks.. So imagine my surprise when I actually looked up baguette in a dictionary and found that there are way, THE 14 BEST GRAVES TO FIND AT THE PÈRE LACHAISE CEMETERY The best graves and tombstones to find at the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris (including Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde and more.THE EARFUL TOWER

IN PICS: A PRIVATE TOUR OF THE MAGNIFICENT VAUX-LE-VICOMTE IN PICS: A private tour of the magnificent Vaux-le-Vicomte chateau. The Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte is breathtaking. Around 50 km south east of Paris, you might recognize it from films like James Bond’s Moonraker, The Man with The Iron Mask, and unusually enough, the series Versailles. The chateau is privately owned and nothing short of THE FRANCOPHILE'S BUCKET LIST: 100 THINGS TO DO IN PARISWHAT NOT TO DO IN PARISWHAT TO DO IN PARISINTERESTING THINGS IN PARISWHAT IS THERE TO DO IN PARIS FRANCE10 MUST DOS IN PARISBEST TOURIST PLACES IN PARIS The Top 100 Things To Do in Paris in 2021. THE TOP PARIS ARRONDISSEMENTS FOR TOURISTS (RANKED FROM Number one: The Flaneur’s Fifth. Here it is, the fifth arrondissement, and it’s the top arrondissement for tourists – hands down. I call it the flaneur’s fifth, as a flaneur is someone who loves an aimless stroll, and there’s nowhere better to do itthan here.
CARCASSONNE: FRANCE’S MOST INTERESTING TOWN This was in 1849. He looked the renovation efforts of the past city-dwellers, the Romans, the Visigoths, the Crusaders (and more) and carried out perhaps the biggest renovation job France had ever seen. He razed all the ramshackle shacks too, giving the old town the semblance of being an old town again, not an overrun ruin. THE 14 BEST GRAVES TO FIND AT THE PÈRE LACHAISE CEMETERY The Hardest Grave to Find: The tomb of the dragon. The first sculpture placed in the cemetery, but don’t think it will be easy to find. Joe talks at length about this sculpture in the podcast. 7. The Most Crowded Grave: The Carton Family. There are 60 spots underground for this family with 9 spots still remaining. INVITE: A VISIT TO THE MONTMARTRE VINEYARD Did you know there’s a vineyard in Montmartre? That’s right, up on the north side of the hill you can find the Vignes du Clos Montmartre, a tiny vineyard that produces real Parisian wine every year.. The vineyard is closed to the public, but visible through the fences and gates – so it proves to be a popular tourist attraction even though no one really goes inside. TEN UNUSUAL GRAVES AT THE PARIS PET CEMETERY The cemetery itself is grand and lovely, even the art nouveau entrance is a spectacle. I took lots more pics and videos of the cemetery, I’ll add them to Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube in the coming days – hope you’re following!.
