EXPLAINER: THAILAND'S VACCINE PLANS AND ROLLOUT TIMELINE About 1.3 million Thais have been vaccinated by the Thai government so far, with over 510,000 people having received both doses of either Sinovac’s CoronaVac or the AstraZeneca version, mainly the former.. With almost 2% of the local population inoculated and no clear plans yet for non-Thai residents, questions have been raised about the full picture of vaccination in Thailand, both for CCSA EXPRESSES CONCERN THAT THAI HEALTH SYSTEM MAY BE New COVID-19 infections in Thailand reached 4,528 today (Sunday), including 1,902 cases in prisons, and 24 more deaths. CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan expressed her concern over the increasing trend of new infections in Bangkok, its suburbs and in some provinces, saying that they may overwhelm the capability of the health system, unless the rising curve is flattened. PHUKET TO OPEN TO FULLY VACCINATED, COVID-19 FREE FOREIGN The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will proceed with its plans to attract foreign tourists to the resort island of Phuket, without compulsory quarantine, starting July 1 st this year, with flight promotions as an incentive.. The plan offers the first quarantine-free option for international arrivals in Thailand since the pandemic started last year, to help the crippled tourism industry. ALL EYES ON CHINA'S SINOVAC Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine is coming under greater public scrutiny as the Thai government procures millions more doses. Thailand has already imported 6 million doses of the vaccine – also known as CoronaVac – from China, including 500,000 jabs donated by theChinese government.
