PROVIDER CATEGORY STANDARDS REFORM In February 2021, the Australian Parliament passed the Higher Education Legislation Amendment (Provider Category Standards and Other Measures) Bill 2020.. The Bill gives effect to the Australian Government’s decision to implement all 10 recommendations arising from the Provider Category Standards review conducted in 2019.. These important changes simplify and enhance the FOUNDATIONS FOR GOOD PRACTICE: THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE OF This report is a high-level thematic analysis of summaries of student experience surveys conducted by 118 Australian higher education providers in the first half of 2020. It outlines positive and negative aspects of the transition identified by students, to support providers in addressing concerns. GUIDANCE NOTE: MONITORING AND ANALYSIS OF STUDENT While many higher education providers monitor and analyse student performance data in some form, TEQSA has identified that, in many instances, student performance data could be enhanced and used more effectively by providers to identify problems and risks early. GUIDANCE NOTE: WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE OF ONLINE LEARNING IN AUSTRALIAN The student experience of online learning in Australian higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic 2 In addition, lack of access to libraries emerged as a significant concern to students. On 4 September 2020, the Australian Government’s amendments to the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 came into effect, making it an offence to provide or advertise academic ‘contract cheating’ services in higher education. FEES AND CHARGES CONSULTATION Why is TEQSA seeking to increase its cost-recovery? The 2018–19 Commonwealth Budget provided for TEQSA to begin operating as a full cost recovery agency from 1 July 2020. This was subsequently delayed, with the Australian Government extending a waiver on regulatory fees until 31 December 2021, as part of the Australian Government’s support for the sector in response to the CONSULTATION: DRAFT LEGISLATIVE INSTRUMENT Consultation process. TEQSA requests that feedback on the proposed text for the draft legislative instrument, along with any other relevant feedback, be submitted via email to standards@teqsa.gov.au. Submissions close at 5:00pm on Wednesday 28 April 2021.
