New Research Affects Traditional Organization of Female Lines. In the August 2002 edition of the journal Animal Genetics, Dr. Emmeline Hill and her colleagues at the Smurfit Institute of Genetics, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, published "History and Integrity of Thoroughbred Dam Lines Revealed in Equine mtDNA Variation," a ground-breaking study that changes much of what we thought we knew GRAND NATIONAL WINNERS Although 1839 is commonly accepted as the first running of the Grand National Steeplechase, with Lottery as the first winner, the first race recognizable as the LES ANGLAIS EN FRANCE 3 The Carters became so numerous that they became known by the name of their training establishment or their crack horses. Thus Tom, son of Thomas Carter (The Genius), was known as Carter Plaisanterie (1842-1918). Earliest Days Georg von Lehndorff was born in 1833 into a Prussian aristocratic family with an estate, Steinort, in East Prussia. His family were landed gentry, and part of von Lehndorff's youth was spent on his father's thoroughbred stud in East Prussia. Earliest Days Georg von Lehndorff was born in 1833 into a Prussian aristocratic family with an estate, Steinort, in East Prussia. His family were landed gentry, and part of von Lehndorff's youth was spent on his father's thoroughbred stud in East Prussia.
