KOREAN PLAYERS ABROAD Korean Players Abroad. As of December 24th, 2017, here are some of the many South Korean footballers who are playing outside of Korea. This list is not complete by any means. It broadly seeks to show where national team (or youth national team) players as well as players who feature for larger clubs within their domestic leagues. 2019-20 KPA NEWS ROUNDUP: FREIBURG DUO UPDATE, HWANG UJ’S Let’s start off with the player that hasn’t gotten a chance to shine at the senior club level this season: Jeong Woo-yeong. The 20-year-old Bayern Munich prospect initially moved to Freiburg this summer to open up the possibility of receiving regular playing time inthe Bundesliga.

Since he started playing football, he’s always felt as if his progression from youth to college-level soccer has been mostly meritocratic. THE FALLEN STARS: LEE CHUN-SOO Lee Chun-Soo is now 32 year old, and is playing for Incheon United. Lee may be the biggest bust in Korean football in the last decade or so. A speedy winger with good technique, Lee was a shining light when he came out of college and signed with Ulsan Hyundai. I remember one year where there was buzz about him because Swansea was punching above their weight, but it seems he’s consistently on teams that are hovering around the relegation zone, which isn’t great & one of the reasons why I had trouble with him being captain of the KMNT. THE BOTTOM LINE: CAN VAR BE FIXED OR WILL IT RUIN FOOTBALL One moment VAR can be helping you and the next moment it is ripping your heart out. It simply has that incredible power to completely alter football matches. Goals can be taken away, penalties can be given, players can have yellow cards changed to reds, and the listgoes on.
YOUTH PLAYERS ABROAD: LEE KANGIN AND JEONG WOOYEONG UPDATE One more player we haven’t talked about yet is Paik Seung Ho, who won his first start for Girona in the Copa del Rey against Atletico Madrid.
