NATURAL BEAUTY
------------------------- If you simply stop long enough to survey your surroundings, you will discover in Stanislaus County extraordinary beauty to behold. While culture, cuisine and community are paramount to life in the City, our rural regions boast robust rivers, agricultural splendor and cowboycountry flair.
Stanislaus County is one of the most diverse regions in the country. There is a lot to appreciate in variety. From our downtown city streets to dirt roads, the pace of life varies greatly in the Valley. Whether you are looking for the bustling adventure of city life in the fast lane or the leisurely treasured slow lane, you’ll find it here. Stop in, stay a while and see for yourself.X
ARTS ENTERTAINMENT
------------------------- Artistic expression is revered in the Central Valley and world class entertainment is not hard to come by at places like the Gallo Center for the Arts, one of the most important collaborative building projects in our county's history. The beautifully restored downtown State Theater in Modesto remains a jewel of architectural excellence and various art galleries are scattered throughout the area, sure to keep enthusiasts entertained. At the lovely Carnegie Arts Center (pictured), an impressive collection of talent is showcased throughoutthe year.
This treasured Arts Center in Turlock, CA leans into its mission of bringing diverse community and regional audiences together to experience and celebrate art in all its forms. Local exhibitions are a colorful celebration of life and learning; education classes and programs, lectures, and studies of various artistic genres as diverse as dance, music and theater. Talent is on display throughout Stanislaus County where opportunities abound to lose yourself in the admiration of creativity and talent.X
HARD WORKING HISTORY ------------------------- The Stanislaus County seat, Modesto, is a city of roughly 210,000 established 150 years ago. The hard working history of its early days includes agriculture, rail, banking, and industrial business. Fast forward a few years, and most reminiscent residents can recall the legendary car cruising through downtown Modesto streets, a trend made more popular by Filmmaker and Hometown Hero George Lucas’s award-winning 1973 film American Graffiti. The film portrayed the spirit of cruising and friendship on Modesto's 10th and 11th Streets in 1962, and inspired a revival of interest in 1950s pop culture. The city is home to the largest privately owned winery in the world, E & J Gallo, and has grown into an art-loving community, with large scale public murals, regular outdoor concerts featuring live music and handmade goods. Modesto’s proximity to Yosemite National Park, Sonoma Wine Country, San Francisco Bay Area and several Coastal towns, all within a couple of hour’s drive, make it a nice place to spend along weekend.
X
FAMILY FUN
------------------------- We are a community that enjoys getting out of the house! As a matter of fact, the City of Modesto ranks in 1st place year after year for National Night Out participation. With year-round events, celebrations, parades, shows, theaters, art walks, eateries, shops, and markets, why not get out and do something? Our vibrant downtown dining and entertainment options abound. See for yourself!X
LIVING THE DREAM
------------------------- In Stanislaus County, where over 500,000 people work, play, and do life, we enjoy living leisurely as much as possible. And why not? In a climate where outdoor activity is possible every month of the year, it isn’t uncommon to find us golfing, cycling, hiking, bird watching, or just meandering through the green hills just west of the action. By design, many of our upscale residential neighborhoods are quietly tucked away beyond the hustle and bustle of business life. For locals who don’t mind a bit of driving to and fro, bedroom communities like Diablo Grande provide an oasis to escape to, where relaxation is at the top of the weekend task list and life is good.Headline Story

COUNTY TO PROVIDE DRIVE THROUGH TESTING Stanislaus County is opening a new community-based testing site to expand COVID-19 testing for Stanislaus County residents. Stanislaus County is opening a new community-based testing site to expand COVID-19 testing for Stanislaus County residents, supported by the Health Services Agency and in collaboration with Verily's BaselineCOVID-19 Program.
Starting Monday April 20, 2020, residents can screen their symptoms and, if eligible, can make an appointment for testing at the Salida Library online by using the Baseline COVID-19 Program online screener and appointment scheduling system found at www.projectbaseline.com/COVID19 . This program is first focusing on high-risk populations as advised by national guidelines. The screening and testing criteria are based on public health guidelines and may be updated to reflect the latest guidance from public health authorities. “We have wanted to offer more COVID-19 testing opportunities to people at risk for severe disease within Stanislaus County, but limited testing supplies made this a challenge,” said Stanislaus County Public Health Officer Dr. Julie Vaishampayan. “Our partnership with Verily will help bring the resources and tools to Stanislaus County to offer COVID-19 testing without over loading the healthcare system.” Stanislaus County’s community-based COVID-19 testing program is directed by the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency. In collaboration, the Baseline COVID-19 Program provides a connected solution to support individuals from screening through testing and receipt of their test results. Verily developed The Baseline COVID-19 Program working closely with state and local government health authorities and other private health organizations to expand access to COVID-19 screening and testing in areas with a high volume of knowncases.
Eligible persons must be 18 years or older, live in Stanislaus County and willing to electronically sign the COVID-19 Public Health Authorization Form and Lab Consent. Based on the COVID-19 screener and testing appointment availability, individuals will learn whether they are eligible for testing through this program and will be provided a testing location appointment.
