THE FOURTH WORLD CONFERENCE ON WOMEN, BEIJING 1995 In 1995, 189 Member States of the United Nations (UN) came to Beijing for the 10-day Fourth World Conference on Women (4WCW) to ratify the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), which was to become the blueprint for women’s equality around the world. GCED is a form of civic learning, which aims to impart the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes necessary to help promoting tolerance, equity and peace in the world. THE FOURTH WORLD CONFERENCE ON WOMEN, BEIJING 1995 In 1995, 189 Member States of the United Nations (UN) came to Beijing for the 10-day Fourth World Conference on Women (4WCW) to ratify the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), which was to become the blueprint for women’s equality around the world. THE ROAD TO EQUALITY THE ROAD TO EQUALITY, our next Soroptimist International (SI) President’s Appeal, was announced by President Elect Sharon Fisher as she invited Soroptimists around the world to join her on a two-year road trip to find and empower women and girls who have been left behind. The Appeal will raise awareness of human rights challenges that prevent women and girls from reaching their full potential.
