SAFETY IN MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING This guidance and advice document overviews safety issues in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and provides direction to radiographic staff on where appropriate information can be found. SCoR is grateful to members of the SCoR Magnetic Resonance Advisory Group (MRAG) and the BAMRR policy board who contributed to the writing of this document. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE RADIOGRAPHER A joint working group was established by the EFRS and the ISRRT in May 2019 to explore the impact that artificial intelligence may have on the radiography profession. Two radiographers from the UK were invited to represent the EFRS: Dr Nick Woznitza co-chaired the working group and Professor Maryann Hardy contributed as a member of the group. Four MRI e-learning sessions have been published as part of the Image Interpretation programme: 23_05 Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Elbow - Session 2 looks at common pathologies in the elbow which can be identified on MRI. 23_06 Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Elbow - Session 3 is a self-evaluation session based on MRI of REGISTER OF SONOGRAPHERS The Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (PVRS) which was run by the College of Radiographers closed on February 28 th 2021. Sonographers listed upon it who wished to do so were able to apply to transfer their voluntary registration to the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) accredited (voluntary) Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) . WHAT IS ADVANCED PRACTICE IN RADIOGRAPHY? Advanced Clinical Practice embodies the ability to manage complete clinical care in partnership with patients/carers. Following the death of an 80-year-old patient from a ruptured thoracic aortic aneurysm, the Society’s UK Council has issued guidelines to sonographers at the request of the coroner who investigated the incident. A sonographer had originally found a 3.6cm suspected supra-renal abdominal aorticaneurysm
NATIONAL BEST PRACTICE GUIDELINES FOR THE CT COLONOGRAPHY The CT Colonography Radiographer Education Development Group (CTC REDG) was set up in 2015 to review and develop guidelines for CTC practice. Membership of this group includes experienced CTC radiographers who are involved in the delivery of short courses and credit-bearing postgraduate awards to support the development of CTCservices.

SCoR has set up a Children's Taskforce with the support of members of the Association of Paediatric Radiographers (APR) to support radiographers imaging children in adult hospitals. This is an e-mail forum for specialist paediatric radiographers to support those who want to improve their children’s imaging skills. REGISTER OF SONOGRAPHERS The Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (PVRS) which was run by the College of Radiographers closed on February 28 th 2021. Sonographers listed upon it who wished to do so were able to apply to transfer their voluntary registration to the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) accredited (voluntary) Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) . CONSULTANT PRACTITIONER ACCREDITATION Accreditation is applied to the whole practitioner and all their practice rather than very specific small elements, competencies or capabilities. Accreditation is not linked to registration and, ‘Accredited Consultant Practitioner” is not a protected title and is not a statutory requirement. It may be a requirement of youremployer.
