Stations in cities across England wanted to keep track of London time, aka railway time. Railway workers would set their watches, ride the train, get off at each stop, and show their watch to the station master, who would set a clock marked "London time." The standard narrative on COVID and the climate is: People worked from home, cancelled travel plans, cut down overall consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions fell drastically. It’s great for the environment! Hmm, maybe, interesting idea! Definitely possiblebut it seems a bit sudden for that. I’d expect to see that as a more gradual shift, but the change in the shape of the curve in August is really noticeableand sharp.

SYNCHRONIZING MP3 PLAYBACK Background. Once upon a time, we thought a killer app for hall parties would be an MP3 player synchronizer. We actually wrote one, as part of our p2p network, P4.It plugged into Winamp and synched its playback with other P4 users on the network. This allowed lots of computers to sync up and play the same songs, at the same time, as if they were tuned to the same radio station. Ryan Barrett 16 Comments Mastodon is now on Bridgy ! Both backfeed andpublish (aka POSSE
) are fully supported. Feel free to try them out ! And let me know if you hit any bugs, problems, or missing features. (If you’re already using Bridgy Fed for Mastodon, don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere! I use it myself. Bridgy’s new Mastodon support is a simpler, lightweight alternative for people who’d prefer to treat Mastodon as a silo, using a native account, instead of directly federating their web site itself.)*
