Ski Patrol is back on the mountain! The department just conducted their annual week-long refresher training up at the ski area this website.This involves a two-day medical training, one day of snow-safety and avalanche mitigation training, a day of lift evacuation drills, and a final day of risk management and situational awareness scenarios. CHILDCARE + GROUP LESSONS (AGES 3-6) A maximum of 3 age 3-4 children make a group; a maximum of 5 age 5-6 children (3 if on snowboards). Partner Resorts. I had a chance this week to get up to one of my favorite partner resorts that you can visit using the Monarch Mountain season pass. A-Basin has a great vibe, awesome terrain, and is just a few hour drive up the back-roads from Salida (Avoiding I-70 all together). I skied perfect woods, steep alleys and open bowls. Had the SNOWPACK - MONARCH MOUNTAIN Snowpack. The recent storms in May have really helped to bump up our alpine snowpack. On the large map below, you can see that the entire Arkansas River Basin now sits at 118% of median. The US Department of Agriculture maintains SNOTEL sites that measure snow depth and anticipates available water content for runoff in our streams and

rivers.

GUNBARREL - MONARCH MOUNTAIN Gunbarrel was the first ski trail cut at Monarch back in the 1930s. Today it is still a classic north-facing trail that offers consistently good snow and a great fall line. OUR HISTORY

our history Monarch Mountain officially started as a ski area in 1939, although people had been skiing the mountains surrounding the valley for as far back as 1914. Monarch was built by Works Project Administration workers, and then given to the city of Salida. We get a great view of Pikes Peak from the top of the Garfield Lift. It looks like some type of floating cloud off in the distance. Rising to 14,115′ above sea level, it is the 20th highest peak in Colorado and the 54th highest in North America. Monarch was built by Works Project Administration workers, and then given to the city of Salida. We get a great view of Pikes Peak from the top of the Garfield Lift. It looks like some type of floating cloud off in the distance. Rising to 14,115′ above sea level, it is the 20th highest peak in Colorado and the 54th highest in North America. Just on the other side of the mountain is Colorado Springs, where many of our guests come GUNBARREL - MONARCH MOUNTAIN Gunbarrel was the first ski trail cut at Monarch back in the 1930s. Today it is still a classic north-facing trail that offers consistently good snow and a great fall line. It is highly visible as it drops right into the parking lot and is a favorite last run of the day for many andrikofarmakeio.com. HANGING ON - MONARCH MOUNTAIN We still have a few snowfields on the mountain that are hanging on. After a cool couple of weeks, things look to warm up next week with temps reaching into the 60’s on the Divide. We plan to get out of the base area and onto some mountain projects soon.

UPHILL TRAVEL

Uphill tickets are valid during the 2020-21 winter season. Users wanting to travel uphill exclusively after the ski area closes for the 2020-21 winter season may obtain an Uphill Ticket at no charge after the official Monarch Mountain closing day (TBD). All uphill users will be required to sign our general liability waiver that includes uphill HANGING ON - MONARCH MOUNTAIN We still have a few snowfields on the mountain that are hanging on.
