Through ambitious public art commissioning, collaborative events and talks programmes, and a critical exploration of the value of public space in contemporary cities, City of Ideas will make tangible the international impact of Sheffield’s home grown cultural PLATFORM - SITE GALLERY In Summer 2018, Site Gallery, together with project partners Yorkshire Artspace, S1 Artspace, Bloc Projects and Museums Sheffield , were awarded £375,000 by Freelands Foundation to run Platform – an artists development initiative, as part of The Freelands Artist Programme.. The Freelands Artist Programme was created to support and enhance collaboration between 80 emerging artists and THE MISSY ELLIOT PROJECT Unapologetically black and feminist, the Missy Elliott Project was Site Gallery’s first collaboration with Eclipse Theatre, working with artist Selina Thompson on her most ambitious project to date: The Missy Elliott Project. Pioneering emerging art practices and ideas, we work in partnership with local, regional and international collaborators to nurture artistic talent and support the development of contemporary art.WE'RE RE-OPENING!

WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE One of the main ways young people engage with Site Gallery is through the Society of Explorers, an art collective of 14-19 year olds from Sheffield who meet weekly at the gallery. “A good few years back, I attended one of these at the site gallery – it was with a famous artists who came in to work with a group of young people for twoweeks.
SITE GALLERY SOCIETY OF EXPLORERS Site Gallery’s Society of Explorers is a collective of young people aged 14 – 19, who meet regularly to collaborate, discuss and create. They work with artists and the gallery team to get involved in the artistic programme and to develop projects, events and ideas.SOMETHING WILD

Working alongside 10 black teenage girls in four cities, with 5 female artists we will create a series of new artworks exploring the lived experience of TURNING EVE, JO E. HANLON A hard decision is easy to make when the consequence is far enough away. Going on a diet. Doing a 10K. Doing a Ph.D., or a marriage. Even the night before – when the full reality starts to edge in – it can still not quite seem real. Or it’s down to my personality type;Continued

The café Kollective Coffee and Kitchen is re-opening on 18 May 2021. You will need to reserve a table for your visit, which you can do here. The gallery will be re-opening on 4 June 2021 for the Sheffield Doc/Fest exhibition. To keep our visitors and staff safe we will be limiting the numbers of Continued EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS exhibition.
