A FEATHERWEIGHT COMPARISON GUIDE A Featherweight Comparison Guide - Are Some 221 Featherweights Better Than Others? A common question we receive is, "Are some Featherweights better than others?" It is a great question and one that we are always verbose to answer! While a Featherweight is a Featherweight is PATTERN, SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT TABLE PLANS (PRINTED) This is a full size printed paper woodworking pattern and plans for a sewing table designed specifically to fit an original black or tan Featherweight 221. For the earliest schoolbell bobbin winder bracket, a notch will need personally styled with your woodworker for proper placement. A 222 Featherweight does sit about 3/8" higher than a 221 HOW AND WHERE TO OIL YOUR SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT 221 SEWING There is a vertical shaft that runs up through the neck of the machine, and that shaft goes through two bronze bushings at high speed. Those bushings need to be oiled to reduce friction, so it is important to not miss these two back oiling points. Next, remove the faceplate by unscrewing the faceplate screw and setting both aside. SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT 221 & 222 ATTACHMENTS & ACCESSORIES This varied slightly over the years as new products were developed and improvements on the old ones were made. Part numbers given are for low shank attachments because low shank attachments are the only kind that will fit on a Singer Featherweight 221 or 222. The remaining items are Singer Accessories which can be useful and quite enjoyable to SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT 221 PROPER THREADING STEP-BY-STEP When inserting a needle, make sure the needle’s flat side is facing the left. Thread the needle always from the right to the left on a Singer Featherweight 221, 222 and 301. After winding the bobbin, it will need to be placed in a position so that the thread is going counter-clockwise. Place it in the bobbin case this way. FEATHERWEIGHT CASE RESTORATION IDEAS If you are a member of the Singer Featherweight 221 & 222K Sewing Machines Facebook group then chances are you've seen some of the clever ideas for restoring a Featherweight case. Now, we aren't meaning an easy case refurbish, but rather a complete case restoration.
